Possibly taking a trip June 22nd throught the 24th to the Camden Waterfront to see the USS New Jersey. Thought about flying into A.C. and taking a day trip visit to the ship. Wouldn't mind staying on the Boardwalk but don't want to pay the arm AND the leg! Any suggestions on places to stay for $150 or less?
Or any other suggestions on things to do around the Camden Waterfront (other than staying over until the 26th to see JB)?

I would do a expedia search for hotels in AC. Then, call them directly to see if you can get a better deal by booking directly with the hotel.
We suggest the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill. It's close to the waterfront and it's nice. There are also lots of business class hotels in Mt. Laurel, NJ which is 2 towns away from Camden.
Make sure you go to see Lucy the Elephant when you are in AC.
Have fun and Welcome to the Garden State.

Re: Atlantic City....Where to stay??
If you look on the individual hotels websites, they usually have junket information.... the first time you go, you'd have to pay a minimal amount (which includes airfare and hotel), but if you gamble, you go for free after that. We always go to the Marina (not on the boardwalk though) and don't have to pay. But the people that go and don't necessarily gamble have to pay something like $159 or so for the flight (from Pittsburgh) and 1-2 nights at the hotel.Dr.Corona wrote:Possibly taking a trip June 22nd throught the 24th to the Camden Waterfront to see the USS New Jersey. The rate you desire is tough on weekends or in the summer. Try staying at one of the other Jersey shore points that is close to AC and drive to the casinos to gamble. Other than the casinos, AC really isn't worth the trip. Even with the casinos AC really isn't worth the trip.

Actually, I could care less about the gambling but the other couple are into it. I Just wanted to be able to walk from the hotel to the Boardwalk to check it out. Is the Boardwalk not really that cool??Skibo wrote:The rate you desire is tough on weekends or in the summer. There are many other Jersey shore points that would be much better. Personally I never cared for AC. It always seemed dirty to me. Thousands go, perhaps I am missing something, but given a choice I would go to any other shore point than AC. Cleanliness, safety and cost are three of the reasons I would look elsewhere.Dr.Corona wrote:Actually, I could care less about the gambling but the other couple are into it. It might be more than $150 you'll have to check, but the best non casino hotel is Flagship Resort. It's located away from everything but right on the water, great view of Brigantine Beach on the one side and Absecon Island(Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate, Longport) the other.
The hotel is also close to the Absecon Island Lighthouse, and the Atlantic City Aquarium. Like blackjacks wife said take a drive down to Margate (15 minutes) and check out Lucy the Elephant.
There are some really great bars and restaurants both inside and out of the casino's. Chains like Hard Rock, Rainforest Cafe, House of Blues etc.. can be found in the casino's. Outside might I suggest Maloney's Uptown Bar or the Irish Pub for drinking, Docks Oyster House, or the Knife and Fork Inn for dining.

I live just north of AC, only a 30min drive. If you want to stay someplace nice, and don't mind heading to AC for a day trip. Long Beach Island has some of the most beautiful beaches. It's quiet and very family oriented without all that AC atmosphere. Nightclubs are great, we have some very cool resturants also. We also have the famous lighthouse, check out my avatar. You can get an oceanview room in Beach Haven for under $150 a night.
