Cubs jersey question (Buffett related I swear!)

Post by coconuttelegraph »

Hello, I was wondering if any fellow PH's could pass on the reasoning behind Jimmy wearing the number 22 during the Wrigley concerts in 2005? I have been racking my brain and cannot come up with any meanings. Please Help...Fins up!

You definitely become attached to certain numbers.

I just offered up a 6 pack of beer to another little league baseball dad to have our sons trade uniforms so that my son could get #14. That's the number I always wore (whenever I could get it) on every sports team I ever played on. My almost 8 year old son, who of course idolizes me, always tries to get that number as well. We are working on quite a collection of father-son sports photos, some separated by 40 years, that show the two of us wearing #14.

That's a great story. In high school I had to pick a number and one of the availables was 61. I ended up taking it. Later on I found out it was my uncle's number in high school (at the same high school), and he was very proud that I carried on the tradition. I also shared the number in common with John Belushi.

It sounds lame to people that've never been part of it, but a number can really mean a lot if there's some significance to it.
These moments we're left with, may we always remember, these moments are shared by few...
