any recommendations on local lodging? Coming in from out of town for this show, and need a place to rest my head

So I am heading down to my First show at Mohegan Sun (thanks to my sister giving me tickets!) and I wasn’t sure what time people usually show up in the parking lot. I usually get to all my Jimmy shows early and am hopping I wasn’t going to be sitting around partying by my self (although that wouldn’t stop me)

I usually get there around 9:30/10am. It's a fun, friendly
lot at Mohegan and easier to see everything that's going
on.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn New London last year. It's about a 15-20 minute drive from Mohegan Sun and I think it was about $120/night.

I'M IN!!
for the tailgate at least. Can't justify the expense of the ticket, but if something cheep comes along I wouldn't say no. Plus it gives me an excuse to:
A) Hang out with a bunch of y'all
B) Gamble
C) See an old friend who lives in Stonington.

Jack I bought a ticket in the lot for next to nothing 2 years ago. There were plenty of people selling singles.

That's my plan, I'm going without a ticket and will see what happens, if not, there is plenty to do there anyway.

I got this from my club president this morning. I've never been there (and not going this year) so I don't know how true this is but including it FYI
Mohegan Sun has provided the following information:
We look forward to your visit at Mohegan Sun for Jimmy Buffett's upcoming concert on August 30, 2007. In an effort to make this another enjoyable experience for all of our guests, please note the following:
Tailgating will only be permitted in designated parking lots on the Mohegan Sun property, which will be available starting at 10:00am. Only concert ticket holders will be allowed to park in the designated tailgating area. Please have your tickets ready to show to parking attendants.
There will be extremely limited parking in the areas designated for tailgating, especially with respect to oversized vehicles.
Please note that once the designated tailgating area is full, all vehicles will be directed to park in other lots or garages, where tailgating is strictly prohibited.
THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED ON MOHEGAN SUN PROPERTY:
No glass containers or bottles
No kegs
No charcoal grills (propane only - 20 lb. cylinder maximum)
No dumping of sand (artificial beaches)
No pools - large containers of water
No trailered vehicles (e.g., boats and ATV's)
No weapons
For the second straight year Mohegan Sun will be selling a variety of items including Cheeseburgers In Paradise and other sandwich items for those guests who wish to participate in the tailgating experience without the hassle of bringing their own food. Proceeds from the sale of these items will benefit the Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Mohegan Sun Arena doors will open at 6:00pm for the concert; please note that there is no opening act for this show. We encourage guests to enter the Arena as early as possible.
All usual venue rules will apply. Please note that all patrons will be subject to pat downs/searches upon entering the arena. Visibly intoxicated guests will not be allowed to enter and/or may be asked to leave. No signs/banners will be allowed.

They put out the same e-mail every year, it's fine there as long as you bring plastic cups, they never check for tickets, and the parking area is plenty big, no worries!
