blowinupinmissoula wrote:most likely they dont want you sneaking in booze huh? i remember at Auburn, WA a few years ago I put a flask on the inside of my belt, near the naughty bits  my friend had a water bottle filled with clear rum, we took a few pulls, then crushed all the air out of it and stuck it down his pants-worked like a charm! i did it last year at a paul simon concert last year and there were no problems....

im not sure if this post really contributed anything to this thread, if you think it didnt im sorry
back in the day, long before security became secure, went to an outdoor concert (not JB) where you could bring in coolers but not booze. So my friend and I filled up a cooler wih ice, then filled the ice with vodka, threw a few bottles of soda on top so it looked convincing, then simply scooped the ice out into the cups and poured the vodka from the drain spout at the bottom, cutting it with the soda    Ahhh, the good ole days....

At post gazzette, they always check you at the gate for cameras, booze ,and god knows what else,Ive snuck in disposable cameras in my shorts, never got any good shots though, and see many folks doing the same and have seen some confiscated. My advice is stick with the disposable get what shots you can,use your good cameras in the parking lot...always good photo ops there!!

I got my nikon into the Vegas show last October by putting it in my shorts pocket under my Hula Skirt. When the metal detector beeped the security person asked if I heard a beep. I simply replied "Nope" and kept on walking. I thought I had really pulled something off until I noticed the lady a few seats to my right pull out her "Camcorder". and begin filming the show.

I guess it is one of those Risk Vs Reward things. Good Seats = Good Pictures. Bad Seats = Bad Pictures.

Have tried past ways of sneaking in liquor by using girls.....but have had female security gaurds check--best way i ve done now for the last six years is to fill ziploc (double baged) with rum-and tuck them into the underwear-wont work if you go commando---even when they pat the area they never notice...once inside buy a seven dollar coke and mix...but don't tell anyone

Almost got myself into BIG, BIG trouble with some contraband RUM at Wrigley field! Someone handed me a bottle down close to the front on the aisle and the guard saw me grab it and proceeded to take me out of the stadium!! I tried to explain that it wasn't mine, etc. etc. etc.

And to at least WAIT until the show was over to arrest me!! Anyway, not sure why, but Charleston saved me. They confiscated the rum that wasn't even mine and took me back to my seat!! WHEW!!!

Maybe Jimmy and his crew needed an extra shot of rum!!

I would have to say, it is definately not worth sneaking any alcohol into any venue. :pirate: :pirate: :pirate:

Just bring some extra cash and purchase it the legal way!!!
It would be a terrible thing to have to miss the concert!!

Back to the question about cameras. I think it's more how the artist feels about it than the venue. I saw Martina McBride in Radio City Music Hall earlier this month and people were walking down the aisles right to the front of the stage taking pictures all night. She didn't mind so the ushers didn't stop anyone.

I know this started out as a camera question but I have a booze smuggle story I have to share. A couple of years ago there was a girl a couple of rows in front of me. She was a bit on the petite side but when you saw her you had to wonder how she walked. I mean thay had to be 38EEEE's. Well as soon as the sun was down and the lights out I see her bending over with a cup and then popping up about a minute later. this was repeated a few times during the show. It seems by the end of the show she had shrunk down to a B cup but was trashed beyond words. As we were leaving I looked down in the row she was in and there was an oversized bra and 2 empty ziploc bags on the ground right where she was sitting.

This won't work for to many guys but ladies it worked like a charm for her. I guess the bigger the cup the more booze you can get in.

a little engineering ingenuity, and you could probably rig nozzles on the ziplock bags.

Back to the camera topic:

Last year at Star Lake, I was set to bring-in my camera. It's nothing fancy - a basic "point 'n shoot" digital, several years old, cheap by today's standards. Above the gate there was a huge sign saying "non-professional cameras permitted". As I was going thru security, I emptied my pockets & revealed the camera, causing the security dude to say, "Sorry - no cameras!" I pointed to the sign and explained that my camera wasn't "professional", just a simple pocket model. Nonetheless, he wouldn't budge - "Sorry, but the artist (in this case, Jimmy) said 'no cameras allowed'." Rather than argue the point, and as I was already holding-up the line to get in, I gave-up and took the camera back to the car. Given that they had a sign posted, I knew I was in the right, but that wasn't the atmosphere to prove a point......

Tequila Tom - Thanks for posting that message. I am planning on bringing my compact digital camera in at Star Lake so I guess I will need a place to hide it. I wonder if security will take it if they see me taking pictures in my seat?

I always take a lot of pictures during the concert and I've never had a problem at Star Lake. Just hide it in your pants or something on the way in and then I wouldn't worry about it.

Looking back on it, anyone who makes a legitimate effort to sneak a camera in the venue will probably get away with it. My mistake was believing the sign posted at the gate that said that small, cheap-o cameras such as mine were permitted! Live 'n learn, I guess.....

They usually give you fair warning before they take it. The guards sort of give you a dirty look and hope you'll put it away.

The big problem comes when you are sitting too close to stage. You have to pass the camera back a few rows to get someone to snap a shot for you!

Ah, maybe that's why I never have a problem...I'm always on the lawn.

I did have a problem one time at Star Lake with my sharksuit that I was wearing. They wouldn't let me wear it into the concert because they said it was cardboard and I could burn it. Last year I wore it into the concert there with no problem at all, though.

Now I have a problem, I just got a RAZR phone which has a camera (that I do not use).... I would like to keep the phone on in case I get a call but it has a built in camera so now it's likely I'd get it taken away :(

That said, is there a problem with taking a phone with a built in camera into MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the concert? (Never mind the obvious you can't take a camera into a casino :) )

I'm not sitting really close, I'm actually going to be on the OTHERSIDE of the venue)

I have taken a RAZR into the MGM for the last three years without a problem.
