Fan vs PHAN

So, we have a new employee at work. I noticed a parrothead tag on her car which prompted me to ask what kind of Buffett fan she is. Apparently, she likes his music and has been to a few shows but doesn't consider herself extreme.
I welcomed her to the "extreme" side explaining that I fit that description. I'm not sure what she thinks of me and really don't care. JB is my escape from the real world.
How do y'all deal with this?

I wear it loud and proud, and don't care if anyone thinks I'm weird.

Teachers and kids all know when they walk in my office. I painted the rooms "Siesta Blue", hung beach posters and play RM all day. I have Buffett plates on my car. I get a lot of visitors. I think they like the escape and not just the fact a always have Jolly Ranchers!

I have ONLY JB on my ipod.... and have a Margaritaville license plate cover on the front of my car with 4 purple hibiscus stickers on the sides of my car. I've had people wave at me while I'm driving... I give them Phins!
Like Capt P said..... Wear it PROUD!

Shoot,,, I make SURE my coworkers know that I am a Parrothead. Then after a while, they are well trained that they bring me presents when they travel to a location with a Margaritaville cafe!!

If you've ever typed Phantastic in an email about something totally
unrelated to Buffett, and had to backspace and change it to Fantastic...
... You may just be a Parrothead!

I have done this on multiple occasions!!! (I've actually sent the emails, too, without even thinking about it).

I think this should be a quote on the front page of Buffettnews

It's like a Mission Statement......
I take some ribbing from people about being a PHAN......but so be it....the music and more importantly, the memories associated with it, have stood the test of time for me.......

I think they key part of your post is that you really dont care. From newbies that only know 2-3 songs to whatever "extreme" is, to each his own. And if people you know dont like JB or think you are strange for liking him so much, so be it. Doesnt change who you are or what you like or dislike.

When I go on vacation, there are some people in my office who always ask "Jimmy?"

I abstain from speaking with "people"

I think some people are just a little hesitant to give themselves permission dive in all the way.
....maybe they just need a little nudge.

I really dont.... pretty much who knows me knows I am a "huge" Buffett fan. And for people I meet.... If they are interested.... I tell them about my Buffett history...and my reasons for enjoying te music..... if they arent...I don't push it on them. Either way... unless they pay my bills I do not feel the need to explain it.
And I warn people in advance... you come to my house... you ride in my car.... or you call my phone...you will be hearing some Buffett!

I get harassed because I drive a car decked out with a "Fins up" magnet, License 2 Chill novelty plate, and flip-flop decals & air fresheners. Of course, I listen to Buffett more than anything else in the car. Since I'm in my twenties, I get some of the "aren't you a little young to be a Parrothead?" silliness.
I just say you're never too young to know good music, or to be a PHan!

I don't remember where i found this, but it pretty much explains a true PHan
I am the proud owner of a License to Chill, I've been to that One Particular Harbor, and I firmly believe that it's 5 O'clock Somewhere. I enjoy Cheesburgers in Paradise, hope to one day waste away in Margaritaville, and I've seen sharks that can swim on the land. I believe that we all have a little Fruitcake in us, and don't take that the wrong way. I want to go on The Pascagoula Run. So put your Fins up, go out and see the world, enjoy some Boat Drinks, and search for that lost shaker of salt. I am a Parrothead, I am not one of those people our parents warned us about, I am one of those people that my parents raised us to be. I enjoy music that has a meaning, have fun and enjoy life. Do what you love. Dont' do it for money. Don't do it for popularity. Do it because it makes YOU feel good. Don't take life too seriously. Go out and see the world, kiss the girl, and cross that wild meridian.
Because if we wern't all crazy, we would all go insane

Isn't that crazy...I work in a bank and have had 3 customers bring me dinner or cocktail napkins from Margaritaville. I have a charm bracelet that is all Buffett or palm tree related, car lisc is PLMTRE (for palmtree), Mp3 is almost all Buffett, 6 CDs in car are all JB. I would have a little more on my Escape, but it is a lease.
Live in Canada and trust me it is a challange to explain who he is.
Nope......not gonna bring me down......JIMMY IS THE TOPS!!!!
PH and proud!!!!!!!
