Mac McAnally at Isle of Palms, SC
For anyone interested Mac will be at The Windjammer on the front beach at Isle of Palms May 4.
One hopes that his buddy may sneak into town and show up there. His plane is actually at CHS now. It flew in 4/22 and is till there. Won't be there long though. Atlanta's coming quick. Jimmy does sneak in and out of Charleston on occasion. And he has a tour dry spell in the May 4 time frame. I ain't countin' on it.

Re: Mac Macanally at Isle of Palms, SC
When I go to a Mac show, Peter Mayer show, etc, I hope Jimmy *doesn't* show up.... Jimmy Buffett is a great guy, and I love his music -- at a JB show. At a Mac show, I want to hear *Mac's* music.palmettopirate wrote:One hopes that his buddy may sneak into town and show up there.
If JB does for some reason sneak into town and show up, I hope it's to sit in the back and enjoy the show.
Hmmm.... Does Southwest fly to South Carolina?

Oh it's gorgeous Connie!Conolulu wrote:ScarletB wrote:*sigh* I LOVE Charleston (just to be clear I'm talking the CITY here!)
Me too....That's my hometown....spent almost 34 yrs there...
and more than a "few" evenings at the Windjammer....
It's one of the areas I'm seriously considering for retirement. I know a retired teacher from here who rents a place there every winter and she just loves it - and she's not rich or anything so I'm thinking if she can do it so could I. Although I have a bunch of friends who've retired around Ft Myers so that's a possibility too. Although none of this is for another 8-10 year anyway!!!

There's no doubt in my mind.....Someday I will. Hopefully in 2 years!!ScarletB wrote:*sigh* I LOVE Charleston (just to be clear I'm talking the CITY here!)
Everytime I'm there, I'm being dragged back on the plane kicking and screaming!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Oh the memories that place brings back....![]()
...and what was that half ball place that used to be there before the Windjammer? I know, I'm going back to the early 60s here when we were in little didees... They used to play baseball with half a rubber ball.

I just cannot see Mac at the Windjammer! Wish it had been the Cooper River Bridge Run weekend. I'd have been there. Maybe they're taking notice of more of these beach bars since the Bama Breeze...
I used to go to the Windjammer in the early 80s to see Phil & the Blanks. Anyone remember them??? They were a GREAT band out of Athens... later changed their name to just The Blanks.
Isle of Palms is calling me!

C'mon back!
Hey I grew up in the days of The Seaside, The Oldside and Art;s New Seaside. The Drifters and The Tams used top come there when they were young.

Hey Connie
it's nice to hear from a real live geechee. How's it going? Miss the pluff mud?
BTW, went to a book signing by Dot Frank the other day. Land of Mango Sunsets.

I lived in Charleston for a summer several years ago (in Mt. Pleasant to be exact) and we spent many of nights at the Windjammer. Back then it was a great place and I am sure it is just as good now. It is the perfect setting for a Mac show.

The game was called half rubber. It's not as popular as it used to be. The youngins just don't pick things up like we used to. They actually had the half rubber world champion tournament down in Savannah.
2 people to side. 1 pitcher and 1 catcher. You only had singles and home runs. A single was a ground ball past the pitcher and a home run was a ball past the pitcher in the air. You didn't have strikes. You stayed at bat until you hit or were put out. You were out if you missed the ball and the catcher caught it in the air or if you hit a fly ball and the pitcher or catcher caught it in the air. Numbers if innings and outs could be varied. Again, before people start correcting me there are many variations. It seems to change according to locale.
