Portable Blender at Linens n Things...

Post by Boojca »

This seemed like just the ticket for the concerts this summer...just thoughts I'd post for anyone interested.

Coleman Portable Blender

Coleman's new rechargeable Portable Blender is perfect for hosting parties and gatherings almost anywhere or anytime. Only 30 seconds is required to make one 48-oz pitcher of frozen drinks while camping, tailgating or relaxing in the backyard. And, fully charged batteries will provide enough power to fix 20 to 30 batches of one's favorite concoction.

Features

Makes one pitcher of frozen drinks in about 30 seconds
Powered by two 6-volt rechargeable batteries
48-oz pitcher has measurement lines and pour spout; locks into base for transport
Durable stainless steel blades
Lid features three pour settings: open, close, and strain
Push-button ON/OFF and LED battery level indicator make operation a snap
Includes 120-volt and 12-volt chargers for recharging at home or in the car; both chargers are conveniently stored in the base
Each battery charge yields 20-30 blending cycle

They look great on paper and are a cool thing to have, but really lack power to blend very well and the batteries run out fast-well they actually slow down so you dont get all the blends that they say...I used to take mine floating on the river, more of a novelty...

Tried a portable battery operated blender about a half-dozen years or so ago. . .promptly returned it to the place of purchase.

Typical batteries cannot provide the amps needed to adequately crush ice.

I'll have to check that one out. I've had the Black & Decker
battery operated one for about 8 years. I just bought extra
Versa batteries so that after the first pair died, I had the next
set charged and ready to go. It's not as good as a regular
blender, but does just fine for the parking lot tailgate if you don't
overload the ice.

The ultimate solution to the power hungry blenders: The bullet blender! I plugged it into the dc/ac power inverter plugged into the acc outlet in the back of my suv and it worked like a charm yesterday even without the car being started to give it more juice. I think it only takes 250 watts peak which most inverters should do 300-400 watts peak at minimum. Beats the heck out of the old crank one I had before. Still not as cool as the weed whacker blender!

I've got to think that you're better off with an inverter for your cigarette lighter and a conventional blender.

I've been playing around with inverters, 12 volt devices, all kinds of propane accesories, charcoal, wood, white gas, you name it, for decades.
Every 12 volt unit (coffee maker, blender, etc.) has been grossly underpowered.
Every "affordable" inverter was to weak for the task, and a "serious" inverter required the engine running to do any real work.
My noisy Generac gasoline powered generator is only of use during a long-standing power failure at home, and then is still to loud to get any sleep.
I'm seriously thinking about getting an almost silent and relativly tiny Honda generator and just using normal appliances for camping and tailgating from now on.
Last year at Oshkosh EAA fly-in, hundreds of them were running in the "no generators allowed" area, due to their small and stealthy nature.
I even saw someone powering a portable A/C unit in a tent with it, and you could only hear the A/C, not the generator.

we've had very similar to thses for a few years....they are good but the batteries die super quick.....I'd still recomend them, but bring like 4. If you're doing alot the inverter is great.
Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I had a good life all the way

Here's all you need, right here:

You can get set up easily for under $50, and will run circles around all these useless novelty blenders.

We got a blender that plugged into the cigarette lighter last year and it worked GREAT!!!!! No complaints at all! My husband bought it at a boat marina. Several people came over from their tailgates and really liked it too. It blended nicely and was definitely worth the purchase!

I tried one a few years back. I think I used an 18 volt drill and it still worked pretty crappy. I also had the black and decker blender, but that didn't work either. Now I just drink margaritas on the rocks.

I have a portable blender that I got from Target a couple years back, that you plug into the cig. lighter. Same problem as the others, though... it doesn't have the power to really crush ice. Does fine if the ice is "pre-crushed", but terrible with whole cubes.

I bought one last weekend and tried it out. It works much
better than my Black and Decker portable blender. I'll
keep that one on injured reserve in the parking lot. I thought
it worked well too.
