hobbes wrote:...interesting post. Like it or not, the northeast has a better selection of places to play- and I'm sure the travel time between cities is a plus for JB and the band. Madison Square Garden, Great Woods, Mohegan Sun, Fenway Park, Gillette Stadium, - why WOULDN"T he go back year after year? The tailgating at Great Woods is the best because the summer goes by FAST- the south, southeast, and southwest usually have comfortable temperatures year 'round. So we get a few more shows when he tours, mainly because there is a better selection for him to play. Do you really think he's thinking "I gotta get to Mississippi-that's where the bucks come in!!" ???

i would hope at this point the bucks are'nt weighing too heavy on his mind. :D

Demerara wrote:Well, despite Jimmy's alleged "saturation" of the northeast, he's not coming closer than a 4.5 hour drive from me. That, combined with ticket prices I'm not willing to pay, means I'll be staying home this year. If he was playing some place closer where I didn't have to stay overnight, I'd probably cough up the dough for a seat.
so ive seen a few posts like this(not too single you out, but yours was on the page so i used it  ) and i think they shed some light on this whole issue of the northeast thing. i dont really mind JB playing the northeast, kudos to all you people that live there and get annual shows, its not worth it to me. anyway like ive said ive seen a few people making the argument that its not as convienient as some think because they have to drive 3-7 hours to a show...this fall i will be driving 14+ hours down to vegas to see him, marking my second show ever. again, im not mad at the people who get to see him every year, thats damn cool,, but it gets pretty f****** old when i hear traveling complaints for under half the distance im going. ok its a rant but hopefully i got my point across. if you get to a show this tour enjoy it, if not-you can take it from me-the studio and live recorded songs will help you get through. just dont listen to the live tour shows on RM that just makes it worse :D

I just wanna know when the florida dates are coming?!

It would be nice to have some "southern" concerts dates.

A show in tennessee or north carolina would be really far away for me to go to but I think the atmosphere would be awsome.

He doesn't play sound advice anymore in west palm, and after seeing kenny chesney there less than two weeks ago I wish he would. I don't really like the arena, and the tailgating is more spread out.

I wont complain though, he did come to tallahassee this year. (first time in 6 years and probably last time ever) They blocked off most of the parking lot though (who knows why) so the tailgating was spread out. We had a nice little tailgate. FSU never gets very good concerts so this was a big deal, but I dont feel bad for the north easterners.

Although, if Jimmy did play at the O'Connell center in the armpit of our state, even though its 2 hours away, I still wouldn't go. I dont know if I can handle a whole city full of gators. (but I wouldn't feel smitted by the northeast dates either)

Jimmy, I know you wanna come to tampa. You really really do... [smilie=battingeyes.gif] [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

wwwhhhhaaaaaa? [smilie=blush.gif]

Maybe its because I was paying attention to the tampa date last year and not west palm. (When your a broke college student, going all the way to west palm, 6 hours away, isn't very realistic)

Perhaps the year before that was the sunrise center. I didn't enjoy it than, so maybe I didn't look as closely as I should have to the west palm dates last year.

Well now I will just pray he knows the outdoor venue is better and sticks to it. :D

Well, not all of us are lucky enough to be able to just up and leave our families and jobs to spend several hundred dollars and a few days just to see JImmy Buffett. I dont know how you people do it.

All right, I made it to page 5 before I had to stop reading and start quoting. You may have meant everything as funny, and you may have had your tongue planted firmly in cheek, but obviously it hasn't come across that way, and so maybe, instead of encouraging this misconception, you should just pull this thread. Yes, I live in New England, and yes, if I wanted to drive 4 hours or less, I could see him 7 times, but as of right now, I only have two shows lined up this summer: Camden last week, which was a 4 hour drive, and Cincinnati, which is a 10-12 hour drive. I'll probably end up at mohegan and Foxboro and MSG because I can and I'm lucky that way, but someone posted a response listing a bunch of southern citites and what would parrotheads from New England think of that. If they're like me, I can tell you the first two words that ran through their mind when they saw that list:

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, if you're joking, I'm sorry, but there are six pages of posts that say it wasn't funny. And if you weren't, I can't see how someone that whiny and uptight could be a buffett fan.

It started out to be funny. Its not my fault if other people took it in a different way. Lesson learned, i guess i should have posted it in the Jokes section.

(but it was still funny as hell reading peoples reactions!! )

I think the fact that Jimmy has places to live in the Northeast has only been brought up twice in between all the whining, moaning, bitching and complaining! Jimmy HAS A FAMILY!!!!!!!! and i am sure playing the shows in the NE the way he does makes it easier to spend time with his family AT HOME and then take a short flight to the next show! At this point in his life and career HE DESERVES IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
