Knoxville
Orange Beach
New Orleans Jazzfest
Raleigh
Jacksonville
Gainesville
West palm beach
And round it out by playing one kick a** stadium show in the SEC somewhere (preferably in Athens @ Sanford Stadium)

Oh yeah...and squeeze in MSG, Alpine Valley, and Great Woods IF THERE IS ROOM.

It would be the exact same thing. It is very easy for the NE folks to say "stop whining" when Buffett spends at least 1 summer weekend a month in your backyard.

Hey, enjoy it, live it up. Have a great time. But don't be so condescending as to say that people on here in any other part of the US ouside of the NE and midwest do not have a legitmate argument, should stop their whining, and just get on a plane.
JB doesn't play the NY area every year. Having a Jones Beach & MSG show last year plus 2 MSG shows this year is very unusual. But when he doesn't play here, you know what? I don't whine like a spoiled little child that Jimmy's not playing my local venue. Or if he does play local I don't complain that he's playing indoors instead of outdoors or he's playing a weekday instead of a Saturday. I deal with it. I've traveled to 5 of the cities on your list to go to Jimmy Buffett concerts. I've already traveled to see him this year and I'll travel again before the end of the year to see him again. The whining gets old real fast, especially when it doesn't change anything. At this stage of his career, Jimmy's going to play where he wants to play, not where everyone else wants him to play.

Or as we common folk say: "coulda, woulda, shoulda..."

To use a slightly more trendy summary - "It is what it is."

again, most of y'alls locations are in the NE. I glad for yall that you can be lucky enough to go to that many shows, even if you do fly. I'm just not that type of parrothead, and wish Jimmy would just be a litte bit more fair. Its also sad for me to think that JImmy is really losing touch. I mean, he was born and raised is the south and writes about it, but by the way he's touring you'd think he's Billy Joel or something. ANd even Billy came to Charlottseville, Va on his tour this year.

I wish he'd do a rotation, and have entirely different cities each year, but whoever decides such things apparently doesn't see it that way.

When Toad's Place reopens in August, Jimmy should be there. Has anyone seen him in an intimate setting, such as a club?

What is with some people? He is playing, or rumored to play:
TX, GA, NC, FL, IL, WI, IN, OH, CA, NV and HI, all plus the Northeast.
People are actually bitching because he is playing in the state they live in, but it is a long drive?? WTF is that? Then you will complain he plays too many SYKBH if you do see the show.
GET OVER IT, the man is freaking 60 years old and has more money than all of us put together, but he still tours. Get off your ass, get in your car and drive the 3-4 hours to see him or don't, but for God's sake stop whining. Jimmy plays too much in NYC? Is that really tragic?
Sorry to rant here, but if I were Jimmy and saw some of the whining that goes on here, I think I would retire

Aspen at the Belly Up...only 300-400 people. There may have even been less. The blizzard kept a lot of people away.

It was quite memorable.

By the way, I love your line, "Rehab is for quitters!"

Toad's would be awesome but it would have to be a hush hush thing like the Stones did when they played there back in the 90s.

Demerara wrote:Well, despite Jimmy's alleged "saturation" of the northeast, he's not coming closer than a 4.5 hour drive from me. That, combined with ticket prices I'm not willing to pay, means I'll be staying home this year. If he was playing some place closer where I didn't have to stay overnight, I'd probably cough up the dough for a seat.
Same here. Bristow is 7 hours away from me.
Um, mapquest disagrees with you:
Blacksburg, VA US

Bristow, VA US

Total Est. Time: 4 hours, 17 minutes

ever tried to drive in N. VA???
I guess you've never tried driving in northern va!! :x

Total Est. Distance: 256.60 miles
Please, everyone, quit yer bitchin..... Read a phin power thread.... get some perspective.....
Yep, I lived in VA for 15 years. It's not 7 hours from Blacksburg to Bristow....

You talking about Toad's in New Haven? Seeing as I live about five minutes from there, I could do that :D
