Of course you can join me . . . but I am in Nantucket. I don't drink cognac but I do own a boat . . . not a yacht. Still want to come?Migration Michelle wrote:Sounds like a blast in St. Barth's! However, what I DONT GET is that all this tour of France is going to do - is enable those USA citizens with the cash flow - to go to YET MORE shows - (ie these are those that can flit all over the country and caribbean and see what they want) ....

Enough. Geesh . . .
I'd have to bring something other than cognac, though. Hope you don't mind!
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

Paris show
I just purchased my airfare for the Paris show. I am currently working in Dublin now and its just a short flight to Paris, Ryanair from Dublin to Paris was only $50 roundtrip! I'm leaving June 7th and return on the 9th, I can't wait!! I just need to see when and where to purchase the tickets for the show. I didn't think I would get to see Jimmy Buffett this year but now I do, I do hope that we can organize a Buffett pre-get together for this show for anyone else who is going.

Jimmy in a jazz club. Wow. I wonder if it will be more of an acoustic type show.
I'm sure it will be very special for those fortunate enough to make the show. Paris in June should be very beautiful.
Would be cool to see Bubba in such a cultured/historical setting.

I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

In the interview, Jimmy said something about taking the "small band". I'm guessing the show would be something like the Belly Up shows.Catch&Release wrote:Jimmy in a jazz club. Wow. I wonder if it will be more of an acoustic type show.

I bet it will be a very small band and a very exclusive audience. Doesn't Jimmy belong to some "Friends of Versailles" group? I bet his ultra-rich buddies will fill the place. Apparently it's the place to see and be seen. Nobody like Jimmy has ever played there, as far as I can see from their listings. (It helps to read French, sometimes)

Well I'm not rich and I've just bought 4 tix. What are they, $50 each?
I believe he charges a lot more than that for his wealthy buddies in Aspen and other such tiny venues.
Don't all be p*** that he's coming to Europe - it doesn't happen very often. (Mind you, it could have been anywhere but Paris...!)

Oh lord have mercy. Can you imagine the snooty french sitting there looking like your grouchy Uncle Harold looking down their noses at the American parrotheads dressed in their finest ? uh.
Here's the french :
and here's the American parrotheads, fans, admirers of Jimmy, who actually know who he is and cares:

I am not defending the French.... but I am gonna tell you my experience with them.
I went to Paris the first time on a Senior trip in school. We did 14 countries in 6 weeks. Week 3 was France. It was hot, the dorm we stayed in was not air conditioned, we didnt speak the language.... no one seemed to speak English and they were unfriendly AND we were there on July 4..... which of course isnt a major holiday in France. We were miserable. I recall heading to McDonalds on the 4th for a little taste of home. It s*ucked!
Fast forward 13 years later. I met 16 year old Julian Emile. He came to live with me from Paris for the summer on an exchange programme. He was the little brother I never had. We bonded... he had a ball... ate peanut butter and heard Buffett music for the first time... he wondered why I liked ice in my diet coke.....I let him drive and smoke a cigarette.... he could drink me under the table.... thats normal for a 16 y/o male in France. It was a wonderful summer.
The next year his family sent me a round trip ticket to come to Paris and see the real Paris!! I hopped on a plane and spent 3 weeks in April in my 30th year discovering the Paris that tourists will never see. What a difference.
People welcomed me as a friend of Julian's rather than a tourist. I experienced places and things you would never see from a tourist point of view. It was an amazing. I became one of them. I did English homework for Julian's brother.... I brought American footballs for the youngers kids and they bought ice trays so I could have ice in my COKE LIGHT!
My visit crossed International barriers for myself and the Emile family and their friends.
Julian is a Doctor today. His Mother still keeps her one a month lover as she has in her 30 yrs of marriage. (hey I didnt ask....
) Papa travels the world as a big wig in the French version of NASA.... (that helped for a helicopter ride of Paris @ sunset
).... and I will always treasure our visits and appreciate the way they showed me their world.
I hope Julian thinks of me and will go see Jimmy in concert. I need to write him!

I would join you in St. Barth's at ANY time on ANY boat. We visited there during the Anguilla concert this year and LOVED it!! What do you drink, anyway?!drunkpirate66 wrote:Of course you can join me . . . but I am in Nantucket. I don't drink cognac but I do own a boat . . . not a yacht.
