That would be sweet....
Never been to Red Rocks, but I was intrigued, probably like a lot of us, the moment I saw U2's Sunday..... video. what's that been now 24 years ago.

I would love to see anyone perform there.

Funny how you can remember things from when you were only 23.

If that doesn't work out there is always West Palm Beach's SunFest which is only 1 mile from his Palm Beach bungalow and will be held this weekend starting Wednesday night.

With Stephen Stills playing Saturday afternoon I wonder if Jimmy's in town maybe he'll pop in like he did 4 years ago when he played Southern Cross acoustically w/ Evan & Jarred? 2 kids he discovered in Atlanta? Kinda sketchy on their details but we were there and only 10 feet from the stage.

PJ I don't think Chastain would be very conducive to a Buffett show. Too small seating wise, and the crowd is generally too stuffy for a Parrothead gathering. Add that to the fact that most of the people that live around there would pitch a fit with the crowd that would roll in and stay all day.

I think a great place for Jimmy to play would be an Auburn show. The university is building a new student center to replace Foy Union - it is supposed to open next year, I tihnk in the fall. I think that Jimmy should play a show there to help celebrate the grand opening, since people say that he used to sit on the steps at Foy and play guitar when it was a student for that one semester there.wrote:

Chastain is only a FANTASY ... I know it's way small and all about the neighbors ... lived off of Lake Forrest. Anyway, we'd only invite BN'ers.

Speaking of AU ... my FIRST Buffett concert was there. It's not in the database, but it was GREAT!!! What a place to see him live for the first time!

Couldn't we actually pick a venue? Think about it, if a certain group was able to raise enough to pay Jimmy and the CRB to play a gig, find a venue, and work out the details couldn't that group then have the show of their choice?

Find a place that's willing to put on this show. Then you get 25,000 people to pay $100 bucks. There would be $250,000 for the gig. Who wouldn't pay to be part of the intimate show? Since the event would be parrothead related there would be a charity involved ofcourse. Maybe a can food drive or a blanket drive, something to get the venue to find it in their heart to put it on.

$250,000 isn't even close to what it would take.

You know what, my math was off (math sucks). If there was a place that held 25,000 people at $100 a head that would be $2.5 million. I think that would be more than enough. The more intimate the venue the better the experience. Like the Anguilla show and the upcoming Paris show.

With all that said, what do you think it would take to pull this off financially?

Probably a minimum of $1,000,000 and that's just for Jimmy and the band before all the expenses - venue, insurance, security, etc.

My only thought (and I hate to be a party pooper here) is that a venue that holds 25,000 people wouldn't be the place for "an intimate performance." For that you'd need a small place that holds 5,000 people or less. 25,000 is a bigger crowd than most of the indoor arenas will hold.

Now a return engagement to the Fox here in Atlanta would be somewhat intimate.

yea!! i missed it last time :( i think either there or in my wildest dream JB joins the "concert on the pier" series that the seattle waterfront always puts in during the summer. other than a secluded beach this would be the tops for me. obviously im from the northwest :P

oh well we can only hope...
