from the unfortunate shade of pink i've turned them all. There are some new tops in there that i'd much prefer white

I'd bleach 'em.

I have had someone do that before, and it worked.

This is how I wash all my white-whites (meaning, I can chlorine-bleach them).
1. Load washer with HOT water.
2. Add detergent and bleach.
3. Leave lid of washer open so it fills all the way up but doesn't kick into the full wash cycle, and soak overnight.
4. Close the lid in the morning and let the wash cycle complete.
Usually everything is fantastic and white after this. You can try color-safe bleach if you have some whites that aren't white-white in there.

Another tip I've heard (but not used). Soak em in lemon juice and leave them in the sun. I'm not sure if it will work with synthetic fabrics, but it should work on natural stuff like cotton. And it's not as harsh as using bleach.

Bleach should do the trick. Use hot water.

I'd be careful about what you put in bleach. Bleach is really hard on fibers and can actually deteriorate it-- in other words, make holes and rips. not cool if you're trying to fix that delicate white blouse....
oxy clean is pretty cool and can get some serious stains out of stuff.

Trust the man-made chemical solutions. Save the fruit juice for cocktails...

Whites? Bleach? I don't think anything I own is ever white after the first washing. I've been married 15 years and I never asked my wife to do my laundry ... I wash/dry/iron all my own laundry. Yes ladies, I was quite a "catch" for this and many other reasons (I also cook for myself and the kids a fair amount of the time).
Unfortunately after all of these years I still do "batchelor loads" of laundry ... whites, lights, darks, whatever ..... it all goes into the same wash load. I figure it gets done faster that way. Eventually all of my whites become the same wonderful lighter shade of pale.

I figure its clean, just maybe not the original bright white it was supposed to be.

Learned something today... never knew RIT made such a product, other than dyes.
