I hit a toad with the mower today. A lttle guy, no more than 1.25 inches, and a ruddy fawn color. Strangely, he blew right out with no apparent injuries. (Maybe I should have kept him - you know, "lucky toad"?)

I saw a bunch of dead armadillos on the highway to/from Houston last weekend...
