Re: Alabama Date
As cool as it would be, I really doubt there will be an Alabama date anytime in the near future. I think Oak Mountain would make a cool show, but I just have this feeling that the closest the show will get to the Heart of Dixie will be Atlanta, Florida and maybe somewhere in Tennessee. I've heard talk from people speculating a show down in the new development area there at the end of the Foley Express in Orange Beach, but I don't see it.hoover wrote:Anyone heard anything? I do have this feeling that when/if Jimmy ever announces a retirement from the road, he may play one more time back down south, maybe the Mobile Convention Center or try to figure out how to play a show at Ladd-Peebles. If he keeps going long enough, they might be able to figure out a way to do a concert at the race track complex the Earnhardts are building out towards U of Mobile.

Verizon in Pelham is a great venue for a JB show. Plenty of tailgating room for vehicles, rv's or just about anything. I just don't know why Alabama can't get a date. As great as it would be to get a show every year, we know that's never gonna happen. But come on its been over 5 years now. We want a Bama date!!!!!!!!

I should be in Gulf Shores in mid June and again in early August, I'll drop by LuLu's and ask her if 1) Jimmy will ever play in Bama again and 2) if she can talk him into a private show at Homeport for just the BN crew.
I don't know, to be honest with you (and this is strictly my opinion, so feel free to shoot it down if you'd like) but it seems like the last couple of years all of the JB shows have been in areas which are major transportation hubs, easily accessable via air - Atlanta, Chicago, Orlando, etc. I know B'ham and Mobile have nice airports, but really unless you fly Southwest, a lot of major carriers put you through connecting flights in Atlanta, Nashville, etc. before getting to the Alabama airports. Maybe Jimmy is trying to make travel for the phlock as simple as possible.
