Put-In-Bay

Looks like we're heading to Put-In-Bay in mid August. I know it's labeled as "Key West North"....so other than drinking what else are we gonna find to do there? Beaches? Hiking? Sights? And where might we find GOOD music?

Thanks in advance Gang!! 8)

There is a public beach, but I wouldn't call it much of one. As for hiking, yes if you consider hiking as walking to the next bar or store! They rent bikes and golf carts to explore the island. There are caves- if you tour the winery, they used to take you down in a cave. I'm not sure if they still do that since I have only been there to drink lately! You can go up to the observation deck of Perry's Monument and pretty much see into Canada. It is closed for a few months right now since a 500 pound piece of granite fell off! :o There is a fish hatchery you can tour. Don't miss the lobster bisque at The Boardwalk- maybe even catch KD Moore if he is there. Almost every single bar has live music daily and nightly. I agree with Flocks list and add The Menus and Mustang Sally (both appear at the Beer Barrel) and Westside Steve (on the patio of the Crescent).

You can also jump on a ferry and go to Kelley's Island and check out he glacier grooves if you are into that sort of thing.

Let me know if you want company for a drink! I will still be drinking water, but my husband won't!

Put-in Bay is wonderful! I've gone every year for the last five years. One of my friends recently visited Key West for the first time and described it as "Put-in-Bay on steroids". As for things to do, most of them have been named already. However, I do suggest you check out this website if you haven't already. You can see who is playing the weekend you're going and where they are playing at. Have fun!

I'm also staying at the PIB Resort & Conference Center this year...never stayed there before. I'll let you know how it is after our trip in June. The pool looks really nice, though...and it's in a pretty good location.
