Unfortunately not. I just remember the song being played and me going crazy. It sticks out because I was with a few Buffett virgins at the time and nobody but me knew the song. I remember an older lady sitting on the lawn next to us grabbing me both of singing at the top of our lungs while everyone else around us just had a clueless look on their faces. I think it was either '93 or '94. The Caravan tour and the Fruitcakes Tour?

God this topic is killing me.....
Not saying anything, but it may, or may not have been on one of the set lists in the past few years, and then outside elements happened and it ended up getting ditched because the crowd was ridiculously wet.... Not saying it did, not saying it didn't...
hahaha....
Only those who snagged a copy of the set list for that show will ever know....

I have basically listened to JB all my life. Your trying to compare a shark to a dolphin. No matter how many times that shark tries to kill a dolphin it always kicks its ass. Sorry, but KC may have the better vocals of the two, but JB sings songs about life, living, and just down right having a drunkfest. He is the original.SchoonerWharf wrote: Several thoughts.
I thought it had not been played because it is one of the worst songs Jimmy has ever done. Absolute bottom 5 ever, and as u can tell I am not one ofd the idiots that posts "Jimmy has never done a bad song"![]()
Lovre any post that references the "infamous" Buckeye Lake show of 1993. God it sucks to get old. I have that show oin tape but have mercifully blocked out that travesty of a song.
Still amusing to watch how threatened some Buffett fans are by Mr. Chesney. Imagine how threatened you would be if you have seen him live.

I can't believe that the Chesney topic is still around. I remember 2 or three years ago it was the most talked about topic on these boards. As a matter of fact if I remember correctly there was even a Chesneynews.com. Oh the good old days.....
I'm back to livin' Floridays

Just about the time you think it's going away, someone brings it back up for NO reason at all and starts it all over again (I'll admit I get caught up in it from time to time).jbfinscj wrote:eeebro wrote:I have basically listened to JB all my life. I think the sad truth is that there are people on this board that 1) enjoy conflict and 2) are somehow jealous of JB (maybe subconsciously) and want to parade KC as the prodigal son before JB even hangs up the guitar.
Just my two cents.
These moments we're left with, may we always remember, these moments are shared by few...
I, for one, just simply don't like KC. So whatever. I don't care what he does or who he's compared to or anything or any of it. I just don't care.
As far as God's Own Drunk being in the bottom five - not for me. The studio version is not exactly great (it's barely good actually) but the YHTBT version is excellent. There are a few other songs that are the worst 5 or however one would want to qualify them. To me.

This topic has gone off topic!
I like Chesney but he's not Buffett.
I like the Clash but they're not the Ramones.
Loved the Wrigley Field Labor Day show but it wasn't like Anguilla.
Can't compare like with unlike.....
I'll ask him to play God's Own Drunk in Paris and take a print out of the words in case he can't remember them!

a buddy of mine claims he heard it in the early 90's in Charlotte, NC. He states Buffett said "why the Hell" not & played it!12vWolf wrote:I don't remember the year, but he played it in Raleigh during the early to mid 90's. That's one and only time I have ever heard it live.
