To me, no one will ever take Jimmy's place as far as the whole concert experience is concerned.
I don't think I'll do anymore tailgating, but will enjoy going to the small shows I've always enjoyed. Texas has a couple great dancehall venues and some nice theaters to enjoy music. Austin has tons of places for music.
I hope all the Margaritaville Cafe's stay open so we can visit those while traveling, but I won't travel across the country for anyone else. Those days will be over for me.

I figure when Jimmy gets close to the end of touring, being the marketing man he is, he'll create a real Margaritaville destination, like a Dollywood or Branson. He will have select dates and special occasions when he plays (maybe 3 nights a week?) and the rest of the time will be filled with others taking us to that "One Particular Harbour".
The question is whether he'd put it in Florida, where everyone else goes so he'd have a better pool of vacationers to pull from, or would he go for the Gulf Coast of Alabama or Mississippi and give back to where he came from. I'd think land there would be relatively cheap and the draw could help out some communities.

I really do hate to say this . . . but someone will come along. However, I would be shocked if Jimmy ever stopped touring; seriously. He has played through brken legs, depression, plane crashes, 9/11, turning 60, becoming a billionare (almost) - - - I think he will tour until he literally can't do it. I mean literally. 10 years? 15? My dad is 80 and he still gets along pretty well . . . we don't have to think about this - - - - - yet.conched wrote:To me, no one will ever take Jimmy's place as far as the whole concert experience is concerned.

Although this summer schedule does seem particularly heavy. i just hope it's not a grand finale
of some sorts. Just in case, I'm going to 3-4 shows this year though!!!![]()

Maybe 10 years from now...
IF he ever stops touring....I could do this....
Great idea , Megan!

I couldn't. As much as I like seeing my friends and telling stories and partying it really would be too sad to know that there would be no Jimmy - no real Jimmy - at the end.Conolulu wrote:mermaidindisguise wrote:personally... God, I hope so. GB was one of the first performers I saw live. I've seen him several times and he was INCREDIBLE!TheBlondeStranger wrote:Well by the time Jimmy retires from touring, Garth Brooks will be back on tour, so...

I agree. We just came back from Branson and we went to the Paul Revere and the Raiders/Bill Medley show. Absolutely FANTASTIC, WONDERFUL ! Paul Revere is 69 and Bill Medley is 66 and do 6-7 shows a week or more, and they BRING IT !!!! Now if they can do it, surely Jimmy can do almost 30 shows per 365 freakin' days dadgummit.drunkpirate66 wrote:this is not a far fetched rumor . . .ConchRepublican wrote:I figure when Jimmy gets close to the end of touring, being the marketing man he is, he'll create a real Margaritaville destination, like a Dollywood or Branson. As I sit in my office on this wonderful Michigan Friday, listening to Buffett, I wonder? We will probably just have a big party at someone's house each summer with a live concert replay from Sirius. We had fun together before we could afford to go to concerts and I am sure we will continue when Jimmy decides to do with something besides entertain us personally. I have a feeling he will be entertaining for generations to come.

the day jimmy stops touring will be by far the sadest day of my life...however, i do think he still has atleast another 10 years left in him, assuming he doesnt have any health problems...he still loves touring...but once he does stop touring, i will continue to go see country shows, and if garth brooks comes back that will be the next best thing to jimmy...also, if you dig reggae music, check out Bob Marley's Band, "The Wailers." They put on a great show!
