ten years or so after Jimmy hangs up the Blue Guitar??
Now *that's* the spirit!

There are lots of phlockings even now around the country that Jimmy doesn't play, but where lots of other Trop Rock artists and bands strut their stuff. You can keep track of where these people are and where we're all going by looking at the Related Artists threads here on BN and by checking out such useful Websites as http://www.tropicaldreams.net and http://www.margaritamafia.com.

And those of you who've said that the phans have been a huge part of the Buffett experience, is there any reason why we can't all just keep going to see the Jim Morrises, the Sunny Jims, the John Frinzis of the world, even if Jimmy stopped touring tomorrow?

I think it's about the fun we make, whether we're the ones up on stage singing about drunken holidays in the tropics, or the ones in the audience dressed in funny clothes, drinking fruity beverages, and singing all the choruses.

So if you want to continue co-creating the Margaritaville experience, find out where the phlockings are near you. Find and support the Trop Rock artists in your area. I've found that even a handful of the Parrothead Phaithphul at one of my shows can be enough to change the energy of the whole crowd, just by letting everyone know they're having a wonderful time.

It's a wonderful job, but nobody *has* to do it. :) Unless, of course, you just can't get enough of that "tropical attitude."

I know... everyone's gonna get down on me...

But it was fun tonight to see Rod Stewart in Raleigh, and that guy is 62 years old!!! Didn't look or act a day over 50!

And the smile on his face, seemed genuine, ... He's still having fun, just like Jimmy.

No tailgating, but it was so fun to go back to the 70's, if just for a couple of hours!
I would love to see Rod one more time.. he does have a great time.. 8)

Hey- until Jimmy set Sept 8th as one of his NE shows I had a plan to see Rod in Boston that same night. Get this... he's playing the AARP convention and tickets are $50. And my MOM actually wanted to go with me. In fact she'd go see Jimmy too but at 80 years old would find the recreational ah..umm.. SMOKING a bit more than she wants to be around.

It would be a sad day when JB retires, but I agree with an earlier post, I will be happy that I was able to see him live when he was on tour. That is mainly the reason I am trying to go to as many concerts now, since I missed quite a few years earlier!!!

Also, I know pholockings will occur with my fellow BNers. :D :D :D

Just a quick question...I just listened to another singer sing one of JB's songs on RadioMargaritaville and it just didn't seem the same as Jimmy. Now of course, Jimmy has his own voice style but I was wondering if thats what its going to be like when Jimmy retires?

I maybe wrong, and I will keep an open mind but listening to someone else sing JB's songs just don't have that special feeling!!! Okay, I will stop. :pirate: :pirate: :D

awww .. I made it on Santas list!

So .. I dont see him now - so if he stops touring - nothing will change for me

However- with all the $$$ you guys spend going to see him - you could all come out here to see me and go to our Aussie phlocking - where our guy is as good, if not better, than any of the other Buffett cover singers out there! 8) 8)

After 7 Buffett concerts and 2 Kenny Chesney concerts. I have to say the Chesney concerts are pretty great. It's amazing how many parrotheads are there.
