I am confused about the whole e-mail thing, do we really think they have to respond to every e-mail? If someone e-mails please play ______ do they have to reply and say OK. If you listen you will probably hear your request. If you have a question concerning something besides a song request, I believe they answer those e-mails fairly promptly.

Maybe if they spent less time checking internet message boards and more time doing their jobs they'd have time to answer emails.MargaritaMatt wrote:4. This is a great outlet to get your opinion on RM heard, I think Myles checks it every day. (A side note, he is the perfect DJ for RM, I love listening to him. exactly. or you'll see a thread start about it..dawgfan wrote:I am confused about the whole e-mail thing, do we really think they have to respond to every e-mail? but getting back to someone with a real question is just common sense. (and no, that doesn't mean a stock, "copy-and-paste" answer that tangentially-addresses the question. That is even more annoying than being ignored, albeit barely)

They do reply promptly if you ask a question, or at least that has been my experience. I have yet to hear one of my requested songs, but then again I'm away from my desk alot!!!dawgfan wrote:I am confused about the whole e-mail thing, do we really think they have to respond to every e-mail? The Elvis station is easy to get a message to. All you do is walk across the street from Graceland in that little Elvis shopping place, walk up to the window with the guy in the room with the microphones and fancy electronic stuff, knock on the window and mouth some words. He even opens the door for ya sometimes, let's you talk on air on Elvis Sirius channel. I've seen it done. Our preacher did it.bufitonmybmw wrote:Um, performers that are actually alive?Boston Blackie wrote:Oh, and Elvis fans have their own channel, as well as Frank Sinatra fans.

Not really a suggestion, but it does bug me when a radio station never mentions what songs they are playing (although completely understand why they wouldn't want to just list off everything played). I listen to RM to expand my music tastes into the general "trop rock" genre and not just listen to only jimmy (which is so easy to do). It just seems that every song that I really like they never say what it is. I think I heard Miles talk about a website that lists what is played, but I wasn't able to write it down. Does anyone know about this site?

Q: What's a pirate favorite amino acid? A: Arrrrrrrrginine

Thanks, MargaritaMatt. That's all I was driving at with this thread. Simply a suggestion to make our favorite channel better. I'll keep listening to RM. It's still WAY cooler than anything AM or FM has to offer.

rm the pros the cons and somewhere in between
I am actually going to send this to the good folks at rm too. so here it goes
One of the main reasons i got sirius (even though you could still hear it on the website) was radio margaritaville and for the various metal stations that xm has failed to deliver.
Now i have to admit i only listen to the station a few times when it was private and enjoyed it. In fact i had sent and email to be a guest dj. But, i digress.
I have a serious problem with 90 pct of the artists played on there examples lyle lovett, the 60s girl groups and even the early beach boys songs , bonnie raitt, van morrison, gomez, and a host of others. Now these people can be heard on other channels on sirius, xm etc etc.
The people i think should be on other than jb are kenny chesney , alan jackson george strait, lots of texas music noone ( including myself has not heard of and may be should be heard ) reggae other than the marley and tosh.also less ub40. jerry jeff walker and some of gilberto gil and astrud and bebel gilberto also more jack johnson.
there is a host of others but i think with those changes it can be really kick ass. Oh and for the grammar police. I am off and going out to blew skies so go .

Re: rm the pros the cons and somewhere in between
I don't agree that we should be demanding what should be played on RM. It is suppose to be Pirate Radio, it isn't. And I think that is what a lot of people are mad about. It seems to have a "format" and it shouldn't. I do agree that the "format" of music can get a little sketchy every now and then, but they played some of the stuff you mention above even when it was an internet radio only station.jimmyismykrustytheclown wrote:I am actually going to send this to the good folks at rm too. so here it goes

Funny, I was just looking for the RM/J.D. Spradling thread to include a link in an email to Steve Huntington...I will include a link to this thread too!
Here is a copy of the email I sent:
-----------
Hi Steve,
I have been a RadioMargaritaville listener basically since it's inception on the internet some 8 years ago or so. I currently listen at work via Sirius.com, at home via DishNetwork or RadioMargaritaville.com and have five (5) active subscriptions for Sirius radios in various family members automobiles (all for RadioMargaritaville access). On an average week, I listen approximately 50-60 hours. However, I have found myself "changing channels" or switching to mp3's since the addition of the Orlando live broadcast with J.D. Spradling. While J.D. has improved drastically the past couple of months...a four hour live broadcast, four days a week with him is a bit excessive! Today, I tuned away from RM at 2:58 CST.
I know Miles Hampton is a BuffettNews.com reader (and perhaps you are too?) and maybe he has already passed along some of the feedback from other Buffett Fans/RadioMargaritaville listeners who have posted. Here are a couple of threads you may find to be of interest:

I am so glad you don't program RM....cause I can hear that country stuff on any one of a dozen stations on and off Sirus....why on RM as well?jimmyismykrustytheclown wrote:I am actually going to send this to the good folks at rm too. so here it goes

First have to deal with JD the DJ and then more country then they are already playing? Dear me....time to give up on them at that point. As it is, country or jack johnson come on, I go listen to comedy for a bit and come back when the song is over.

hell i'll buy him one, he might be forced to play music while he's eating. Maybe i won't have to hear the mville orlando cafe described in detail every half hour.Soraya wrote:Yeah...they should at least change it to "JD wants a Cheeseburger" now and then. LOL.....there you go, using facts. Anyway, what does a song like 'If I had a Boat' have to do with anything? JB would never have anything in common with such a silly idea of a cowboy taking his horse on a boat. Oh wait.......Kokomo wrote:And...you realize that Lyle Lovett is a Texas artist and one of JB's friends, right?jimmyismykrustytheclown wrote:I have a serious problem with 90 pct of the artists played on there examples lyle lovett...

If i wanted to listen to that crap I'd tune to one of the 3 or 4 sirius country stations, if your reasoning for not playing the afformention artists is that they can be heard on other stations, then it doesn't make much sense as the artists you are shilling for can also be heard elsewhere. Personally I'd like to see it go back to the old format and I'd really like to hear less chit chat and more music. I could careless what the weather is like at the mville cafe in Jamaica. You can't please everyone that is for sure.jimmyismykrustytheclown wrote:
