That might be the best way to build the image of the restaurant back up. If Jimmy's touring less, he might have more time more time for "bidness".

Food was mediocre to OK, service was abysmal at best.

Not really a big surprise that they're in trouble......
I would agree with you on the food, except for two things. In Columbus it is tough to get that Caribbean/Keys variety in quality food, so I do like that there. Also, they have the best frigging salad ever (actually it is just the dressing).

The one in Indy wasn't that bad.... On an election day, they couldn't serve liquor before 6pm!

Being that I'm normally there for the live entertainment though, my only complaint has always been that the stage is too small and the dance floor non-existent. However, we've always made due, dancing around tables, on chairs, or on top of booths! :o  :wench:

Rather than appease that problem, I believe CIP geared away from the entertainment, foregoing bands except for Full Moon Parties, and booking soloists. From what I heard, that didn't exactly pan out, no pun intended!

If they go, I'll miss them.

And I gotta add, the Bahama Breeze in Schaumburg IL is pretty cool too!
Well, as being the band that opend Downers Grove, IL; Middleton, WI; Omaha, NE and Ashville, NC with Jimmy Buffett and Cincinnati, OH; Columbus OH; Atlanta, GA; Algonquin, IL, Des Plaines, IL and Kalamazoo,MI I would be heartbroken to see it go. I have many fond memories of all those locations and openings.

I agree with Tiki though, they lost focus when it came to entertainment by cutting the pay, then resorting to solo/acoustic acts. Recently they started bringing the bands back. I new stage and a new focus could turn that place around! It owuld be a bummer to do a CIP closing tour.

Maybe I could buy them (quit laughing) and make them Beach Bum Bar and Grills. I would have to have a tequila pirate though. That would be a pirate guy that walks around shooting tequila in peoples mouths. Then I would have to have Beer Frame hour where every beer is just a dollar between 6-7p.

Just some ideas for the Beach Bum Bar and Grill... one day...

Good idea. Except the dollar beer between 6-7p is illegal in the state of NC. They outlawed "happy hours" here because it encouraged binge drinking. The drink special has to be all day or not at all.

Ours is open for lunch and is really easy to get to. As far as fun factor goes, it's one of the better places in C'ville.
The only I've been to was the Charlottesville location last May. We were vacationing in the Va. mountains and stumbled upon it. We enjoyed it; had to wait at the bar for 30 minutes to be seated on a Wednesday night, but no big deal. Even our son, 13 at the time, enjoyed it! 8)

I've always been a fan of the food and mojitos (oh my... )

The service has never been "even"...everything at the Atlanta one ROCKED (did ya hear that , HPH? ) but I actually walked out of the Newport News, VA location because no one ever came to take my order or bring me a glass of water. Consequently, the waitress at the Carraba's next door got a very excellent tip after I told her of my experience..SHE took care of me!

I think the food I've had there has been pretty good. It's not exceptional, but better than I expected. Everyone I've gone with has seemed to agree. Charlottesville was a good experience for me. On my first trip to the Pasadena, MD location I was told 45 minutes for a table. After 45 minutes, I checked back in and they told me 50 more minutes and I left. My second trip went better. The mojitos are decent and the Margarita I had was pretty good considering it was made with Margaritaville Tequila. Aside from a lousy hostess, the service has been fine for me.

And another (corporate) chain bites the dust...

Sort of like Margaritaville Las Vegas, where the owners and employees aren't even sure who Jimmy is, but it plays well to the tourists...

That is why I am calling it the beer frame hour. Nothing happy about bowling! :pirate:

Depends on the location. I can speak for the 4 locations I worked at. One of them will do anything to indulge you. One of them was pretty good. The other 2 were not, but both have had changes in management since I left.
I meant corporate, not the people at the locations!
