Both parents have passed away.
I don't recall the details. He lost his father to Alzheimer's-related issues. Lost his mom just a few years ago.

In the New Orleans Margaritaville Cafe, he's got a sweet picture tribute to his mother in the foyer. You should check it out. It's really tender and dear.

one of the best concerts he did (small venue, humour-wise) was his mother's 80th. She attended the first couple Stars Fell on Alabama Phlockings.

His mom was at an Atlanta show that I attended, at Phillips Arena in the month of February I believe. He made a comment about his mom being there, but I do not remember exactly what he said...right now.

I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was when he started to play Why Don't We Get Drunk, and it was something along the lines of her not liking that song.

That's right...I think you are right... That was also the day of or after the Space shuttle Columbia exploded when coming home. He came out and said a few words about it before the show started. Wow I remembered that.

Wasn't it something along the lines of "Sorry Mom....but it's paid the bills for a lot of years"??
poetic license there......but you get the idea....

Yup, I remember that..... Me and my best friend at the time camped out in Centenial Park the night before hoping that Phillips would release some tickets the day of the show (and they did.... Floor Seats)... Froze our assets off, but damn it was worth it....
