what car products do you use
I bought a new (to me) car and it's black and even though i've washed it twice it's constantly yellow from the pollen. The front is also covered with dead bug goo from just two weeks of driving.Plus I live at the shore and sooner or later everything here rusts. When you drive over the bridge sometimes you get sprayed with sea water. The leather seats are in perfect shape. Something I'm not used to.
I go to the auto store and am overwhelmed and have no idea what to buy. Any recommendations on wax or leather care or how to get the dead bug goo off. It's kinda like cement. Usually I go to the carwash and use the spray on wax.

zymol. a little more expensive but you get what you pay for. the only wax that lasts more than 5 minutes and one car wash in the desert sun. i only use their products. wax, cleaner, bug and goo remover, leather conditioner, vinyl treatment (great for the rubber bits around the windows etc.)

Hand wash your car, it's the only way. Spray WD40 on all the bugs, wash immediately. When your car is all clean and dry, spray on Mother's Finish with a clean soft cloth (a cloth diaper is perfect, or an undershirt) and wipe, softly buff the front, hood, sides of car. It's great stuff, gives a smooth shiny glassy coat, which repels bugs. Or makes them VERY easy to get off next time.

I'm kinda obsessive about my car being clean. But my last mustang had a couple tiny paint chips that I kept saying I was going to fix. Now I'm putting it out for sale and I can see rust pretty bad around the paint chips. If you lock a bike up here with an ordinary lock and don't use it for a couple weeks you might have to cut the lock off.
The humidity gets so high that in the winter my brown sugar is rock hard like it usually gets. Come spring it turns completely soft and will stay that way til the end of the fall.
I'm thinking of trying this. http://www.zainostore.com/
I've heard good things about it. But a starter kit is around $90.

Back in my banking days before I went to law school, I worked with a guy who drove a Porsche. One of the women in the office asked me why he had a Porsche. I said "To get babes." She said "The Porsche only gets you to the door, you still need the key to unlock it."Some guys ooze so much confidence that they don't need a hot car to get hot womenLIPH wrote:

yep, smart women look for the whole package. That said, I love my new stang.
It's funny because I was at a meeting for history thesis students. These are the folks in the advanced class and honestly, we're all a bunch of nerds who do heavy reading and would rather watch the history channel or discovery then desperate housewives. In the group of 16, 7 had mustangs, 4 were convertibles, one had a chrysler convertible, two had big sporty suv's. Ya get the feeling this bunch of nerds is compensating a bit.

Don't know how I remembered this thread, but I'm sure that brain cell could be used for something better...
Washed & polished the car this week, enjoying the end of our balmy temps. I used to have a kitchen cleaner that I could spray on a rag and get the dried wax off of the black trim and door handles. Can't remember what it was, and I've been trying everything we have but nothing works. Does anybody have any recommendations?
...other than not being so sloppy next time?
