surfpirate wrote: You can fast forward in the member list by changing the URL listed. For example, when the member list is sorted by member name ascending, go to the last page (currently page 779) and you'll see the following in the URL bar:

http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/member ... tart=15560

Page 779 starts with member number 15560.

Then you can replace the 15560 with any number you want and hit enter. To get to the approximate middle of the alphabetical member list enter http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/member ... &start=750

Playing hit or mis you can start zeroing in on what page the member name you're looking for is located.

Not perfect, but it'll get you there.

Good call! If I had not given up so quickly the couple times I tried to find someone through there, I might have noticed that. Easy enough to do!
Thanks!

perhaps the mods could make more use of the news stickies to highlight important information that comes up in the middle of a thread. ala no CRs at MOTM. once again its a judgement call but it might be helpful....

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

Quiet and Shy gets it... Actually the MOTM no coral reefer post is what triggered it in my mind again.

I thought, jez, if I am missing this and it doesn't get its own news item, what else am I missing.

Personally, I think Larry should summarize for us, or just me, or get one of those girls too!

Why do we have moderators anyways, aren't we all pirates?

Couganata wrote:Hello,

I lurk on here everyday about 20 times a day. It gets me away from my work, so I enjoy the break. However, I can not stay up to date with all the threads, etc.

Therefore, when I see a new post I look at it. If the thread has beyond 2 pages and it has been around for more than a few days, I don't bother reading it. A thread with 30+ pages has to much history for me to catch up on.
By the way... your 20 times is probably double my daily average. We all work, and we all have real lives, so it's up to each of us to choose what to catch up on. I'm not going to MOTM, so I knew nothing of the email until I looked to see what you were talking about.

BN is like a box of chocolates. You never know what's in thread until you bite into it :D

If we're pirates....BN is our treasure chest. Sometimes you do a lot of searching...and sometimes a gem pops up where you least expect it.

Who'd have ever thunk that a poor fellow trying to find out what year his tour shirt came from would have started the most popular thread of all time?

I'm sorry, I just got here. I don't want to read both pages of this thread, can someone just summarize it for me?

I have an idea, wouldn't it be great if someone had a summary thread that summarized all the threads going? Then, as it grew, someone could summarize the summary thread.
