Perhaps the manner of submission should be changed.
Rather than a post showing up immediately after the "Submit" button is pushed, it would instead go to a hold area. Items in the hold area would be reviewed by an editorial board who would evaluate it for appropriateness in the target thread. If a majority of the board agrees that it is appropriate, it would then be "officially" posted to the thread.

24/7/365 - how many people do you suppose it would take to serve as members of the editorial board?
I was looking for that daggum "Control V" thread...but couldn't find it :-? ...so in the same senseless rambling that you just posted...here goes...

And just so you know...I asked someone in a PM if this guy was one of their Board of Directors...

BN Cliff Notes? :o

Just what we need, a couple people boiling down all the parts of a thread as them deem important.

I like my speech as free as possible, thank you.

Just because I like things the way they are and just because I don't agree doesn't make those who agree smarter. See page 3, the third post from the bottom. My apologies if I misunderstood.

My note to the Mods: Thank you for all your effort and I would prefer to hear what people think, so you don't have to censor the posts for me.

Larry, you want a grip on reality... you in those pictures, hilarious. Is that free speech?

My orginal comment was for those people who are not reading every line of every thread to get the core content.

Everyone enjoys the debating, the bickering, the wild comments, that is what makes a board fun. My suggestion, twas the creation of a kind of a NEWS thread. Something major happens in the board, it goes into a quick review thread. A moderator does not need to have to post it, but rather someone, deep in page 30 of something could go on and post a comment that something new has come about. If the news section will always do that, that is awesome. However, yesterday the MOTM announcement was deep in a threat to start and I assumed we were missing something big!

The mods do their job great and I have never said otherwise! I thank them for their job well done!

No, your original comment was:
Couganata wrote:If the thread has beyond 2 pages and it has been around for more than a few days, I don't bother reading it. A thread with 30+ pages has to much history for me to catch up on.
Then you went on in your second post in this thread to suggest, since your time is apparently too valuable for you to seek out information on your own, that one of the moderators should summarize any thread over 3 pages so you wouldn't have to read it yourself.

I don't read every line of every thread, most threads I never even look at. But if the title of a thread sounds like it's something I'd be interested in reading, I read it. And I don't expect anyone else to give me the Reader's Digest condensed version because I don't have time to read it myself.

On your comment about free speech - the flip side of free speech is that many times you get what you pay for.

Second, thank you for proving my point, that the title or the theme of page 1 does not hold true to page 30 and you might have missed something as well.

I've been on a couple of boards that do that, and the downside is that in cases where an event in progress is being discussed (the VT shooting, etc.) you lose the ability to post new information as soon as it becomes available.

Also, those people responsible for screening new posts, on a large board, end up spending all their time screening posts and never have much chance to contribute to the ongoing discussion.

The difference is, if I miss something I don't expect someone else to find it for me because I don't have the time to look for it myself. That's the reason you started this thread.
