I am not sure if she wants to eat it, but my australian cattle dog mix seems to have a taste for skunk spray.
Most nights in the summer we take her for a 3 mile walk/hike through the sand dunes just off Lake Michigan. She chases squirrels at top speed for most of the walk. By the time we get to the end of the trails and need to put her on leash, she is exhausted.
A half hour after getting home she whines to go out and lay on the back porch to see if her striped friend will be passing through. She just walks up to the skunk, lets it spray her in the face as she follows it through the yard. She has been sprayed 5 times in the past year. Doesn't matter, though. I actually think she LIKES the taste as it never phases her.
We (or I should say I as I, am the one who gets to bathe her) can't stand her whining to go out to wait for the skunk. It's either listen to whining while trying to wind down from the hike or let her have her fun laying on the porch HOPING that she'll get a chance to be sprayed in the face. Nothing like having the house stink for a week.
As to the weirdest thing she'll eat - grass. No matter how full she is, she will sit in our yard chewing grass like a cow.

I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

my cat is crazy. his favorite thing to do is patrol the kitchen counters or any flat surface for a glass of water. I've got pictures of him with his entire head inside a glass .... then he likes to knock over the glass and drink off the floor.
he does this and his water bowl is maybe 5 feet from the kitchen counter.

My cat is nuts about water too. Every time I turn a faucet on he's right there. Very fascinated about it coming out of the tap. He swats at it with his paw. He'll lay in the sink and let it drip on him. Also loves to watch the toilet flush. Cats are from another planet.freaky4tiki wrote:my cat is crazy. his favorite thing to do is patrol the kitchen counters or any flat surface for a glass of water. Nick does a lot of crazy things. He meets us at the door everyday when we come home. he races us up the stairs, he evens balances on the banister and plays with his tail between the rails. it's a scream to watch! and he talks constantly!MalibuRumGirl wrote:My cat is nuts about water too. Callaway looks similar to my cat Freddy FiOS. His name was originally Spot when I got him from the shelter. He's turning into a fat boy. Good thing I go to work or I'd have to carry him to his dish.OttoCal wrote:Warning: gratuitious pet picture ahead!
Otto (grey tiger) likes doritos and any salty snack- especially chex mix.
Callaway (white piebald), despite being an 18 pound monster, will only eat dry cat food. Never wet cat food, and no people food.![]()

Not the dog I have now but another dog I had once got into a 12 pack of Coke and bit through 8 or 9 cans when he was home alone. There was Coke every where, on him, on the walls, floor... the same dog used to like to pull the phone lines out of the walls, we had an older apartment at the time so the phone lines were "painted" into the walls.

I think the list of bizarre things my dog loves is just too long. Among his more favorite are lettuce leaves, oranges, all kinds of fruit.
He ate an entire lime that fell off the counter. Literally grabbed it as it hit the floor and ran over to the carpet, proceeded to plop down, chew and eat the whole thing. My husband and I were too shocked to even stop him.
He did eat an entire platter (10x13 glass dish) of double chocolate brownies. I went downstairs, forgot I had left them to cool, and found the broken dish on the ground, and him finishing up what was left of the brownies. After I made an off hours call to the vet, she said to keep an eye on him and if he started acting at all weird, to call her and bring him up.
He, of course, promptly went upstairs, curled up. and chewed on a bone before falling asleep. I swear that dog's stomach is lined with steel.

Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..

I thought I was the only one who had a dog that did that. Same exact thing - brownies in glass pyrex dish (maybe it was 9x9 but that's beside the point) cooling on the counter - dog jump up - pulls dish down to the floor - breaks dish - eats brownies and some of the glass. We called the vet and told them our 85 lb dog ate some brownies and should we bring him in. After they stopped laughing, they said that much chocolate wouldn't kill him. I thought the glass would be a problem but it wasn't.sy wrote:He did eat an entire platter (10x13 glass dish) of double chocolate brownies. Aside from that, the dog eats pretty much anything that hits the floor. It's the stuff he eats outside that is gross (like bunny poop).
Twenty degrees and the hockey games on...
My boys enjoyed the skunk visit also. Mine only got sprayed once. The skunk got shot the next night.Catch&Release wrote: We (or I should say I as I, am the one who gets to bathe her) can't stand her whining to go out to wait for the skunk. Rub yours on me and I'll rub mine on you
My Little Miss Magic eats the little dried flowers/"moss garland" from around the head of my Dreamsicle next to the bed.
Each day when she wants me to wake up, she starts going after it!
There are no flowers left!
She eats any kind of fresh flowers I put in the house too, so I always have to put them where she can't jump up to.

My 15 year old Rat Terrier, Rizzo, will ONLY eat McDonald's hamburgs (no pickles, lots of onions) OR Bob Evan's meatloaf. When we got him at age 1, I tried all the dog foods known to mankind and they would just sit in the bowl. He's gone through several phases over the years, chicken breasts, cocktail weiners, sloppy joes. And to think, I used to make my children eat whatever I was cooking that night!!
