People here get upset when Sodomy Hussien finally gets what HE deserved, but, yet there's dancing in the streets when someone like Jerry Falwell dies.

What a country.
Oh, I danced (figuratively) when Saddam hit the end of his rope as well.
I have a long list of folks whose eventual death will lead me to cut a rug.

Ol Jerry was near the top.

Now if Fidel would kack, I would have a good week.

I danced LITERALLY when he assumed room temperature.
And, while RevJer was never a favorite of mine, I don't really put him in the same class as Sodomy Sahib Skyhook Hussien.

While RevJer may not have actually killed nor ordered the killing of anyone, he has over the course of his life lied, cheated, and swindled enough people for his own personal gain that I would place him with Saddam, Osama, andMichael Moore.

While I disagreed with just about everything that came out of his mouth, especially his desire to legislate morality, I do believe it's disrespectful to wish anyone dead or be glad they've passed. I won't personally miss him but he's just Dad or Grandpa to someone out there.

Unfortunatly only the extremist Christians get press time (Robertson, Falwell, Phelps, etc.) I really think that Falwell and others like him do a disservice to the Christian gospel an do more to hurt people and divide people than to help. I believe the gospel is about bringing people together and that no one on earth has the right to judge anyone else. I do not wish death or punishment on anyone but I do think Falwell will have some 'splainin' to do and hopefully he can finally see the truth of love and reconcilation that God has.
I agree wholeheartedly. You say stuff so well.

I like how you think, my friend, but come on now.
As much as I disagree with Hillary, Kerry, & Teddy-boy, the worst thing I ever want to happen to them is that they not get elected.
Let's not put ourselves on the same level with THEIR supporters.

I was reading my local paper this morning and they printed a list of infamous quotes. It reminded me of how different his view of God was and my vbiew of God is. I really pained me to read those hate-filled words that he spoke time after time. AIDS is God's punishment, 9/11 and Katrina was God's punishment on America and the like. It bothers me that so many people have turned completely away from God because of his words and his actions. I also have to remember has someone said in this thread or the other that he was "Dad" and "Grandad" to some and that we all make mistakes and are misguided. His legacy for me is a constant reminder that my words and my actions especially as a pastor in public view affect more people than just me. So for that at least I thank Jerry Falwell for demonstrating the power and pain that words can cause.

C'mon Garry - that's a pretty big assumption, isn't it? Not to mention an incorrect one. Please do no take my joy over Falwell's departure as an endorsement of ANYBODY.

I wasn't referring to you. I know, for the most part, you're one of us.
I was referring to those on the other side who would wish several people in the current administration ill-will, and we ALL know they exist-many of whom even post here. (You know-those people who claim to be [/i]tolerant[/i]).
I know there are people who didn't LIKE RevJer, and don't get me wrong-he never got any Christmas cards from me, and there are LOTS of people in the spotlight that I can't stand as well, but I just have a really hard time understanding the rhymes and reasons why anyone would CELEBRATE the death of this man.
They're against the death penalty for convicted felons, but yet, would celebrate the death of Jerry Falwell, and others I could mention.
I just don't get it.
