Played it on this suitcase like player, with the speakers coming out the sides, down in my folks basement. That thing was made probably in the early 60's or maybe the 50's, and had all tubes. This was not quite yet at the time where Dad trusted me with his fancy all-transistor stereo he got in '68.

On 45's they always had the A and the B sides, but not for American Pie. That song was so long, only the first 3 verses fit onto the first side. Then you had to flip the 45 over to hear the last 3 verses!

My father has a very warped sense of humor.....and he bought me the 45 of "They're coming to take me away"...when I was still in grammar school.....and the flip side is it "backwards"...

(45s are the little ones, right?! LOL)
I actually had two of them that I played over and over.....one was The Beach Boys, it was orange, I have no idea what it was called. I just remember it had "Don't worry Baby" on it.

The other one was "Billy Jean" by Michael JAckson! eek! :o

My folks have some awesome 33s.....and yes, we have the Chipmunks Christmas Song.

My dad actually has Reel-to-Reels that he's had since Vietnam and before.......THOSE are amazing. 3+ hours of the best darn classic rock you ever heard, and that's just ONE reel.

INcidently, my husband was bequethed an ancient turntable w/ 8 track player in it......and there was a Ted Nugent 8-track in it, too funny..... :D

At one point in time I had aprox 1100 albums. Through a million moves and several bouts of unemployment I think that was whitled down to about 250 remaining, including all available by Jimmy except the original versions of the two Barnaby Albums. I do have the reprint double set on vinyl

That was also about the last 78 I bought, "cause 45s came in.... probably bought a few things before the Beatles.....

I love Magic Moments and I have Perry Como cd's. I have very eclectic tastes in music. ex: Don Cornell, Louie Prima, Jerry Vale, Beatles, Rod Steward, KT Tunstal, Pink Floyd, Toby Keith etc
