I think the first LP must have been "Meet the Beatles"
Rythym of the Falling Rain was done by a band called The Cascades.
(I know, because I have it too). :D

Also-my first LP was "Meet the Beatles," & I still have it. It's exactly 43 years old. 8)

I don't think I had those records, but I remember dancing to them at sock hops in the gym...

Don't remember really which one I bought first, but one 45 that as a kid I played over and over and over was American Pie by Don McLean (1971). Played it on this suitcase like player, with the speakers coming out the sides, down in my folks basement. That thing was made probably in the early 60's or maybe the 50's, and had all tubes. This was not quite yet at the time where Dad trusted me with his fancy all-transistor stereo he got in '68.

On 45's they always had the A and the B sides, but not for American Pie. That song was so long, only the first 3 verses fit onto the first side. Then you had to flip the 45 over to hear the last 3 verses!

I wonder if anyone here (besides me) has a working turntable/RECORD player.
One of these days VERY SOON, I'm going to have to go through all of my records just to see which ones I have. Most I can remember, but I know there are many I bought by the famous "one hit wonders."
It'll be a fun trip down Memory Lane, if nothing else.

Does working imply it's hooked up to your stereo, or can it be in the closet :-? Remember, they don't sell stereos anymore :( :D

:D That was Crimson and Clover. :D

My 45 was The Jackson 5 - "ABC"

And the Osmond Brothers - "Phase III" was my first album.

I have a Technics turntable. Pi**ed at myself for getting rid of my Thorens 165( a great turntable in its day). I sold stereos in Harvard Square in 1976.
I sold most of my LP's but I still have a few hundred. Play them once in awhile.

Actually we have two. That work anyways, but don't really use them much. The last one I bought about a year ago, specifically for recording some of the stuff not available on CD. Didn't get much use!

But the new one does have a built-in pre-amp so I don't need a receiver... just plug it in to the back of the computer and record!

Yup, we've got a turntable, and it's plugged in to the stereo, and we have a lot of LPs too. We're Old!

Still have a turntable. Winter Sunday afternoons are "classic vinyl" days here. 8)

First 45? Winchester Cathedral. Looking at the release date, it must have been 3 or 4 years old by the time I got it. I think Mom must have bought it to shut me up at the the store. Can't say I remember the first one I bought on my own.
