CAR ALARMS

Post by IrishPirate »

Well here it is 12:40 am on a holiday weekend, and some a$$ holes car alarm is going off for an hour and forty five minutes. It started during a thunder storm and hasn't stopped! Can't the owner recognize his own alarm? ARRRGHHHH  :wench:

I hate the stoopid things, IP... have them going off more times than I care to count, and they seem to annoy folks more than they do help the car owner.

Perhaps they are not around. Several years ago, my best friend left his car in my driveway, and forgot to leave a set of keys with me. Sure enough, the alarm went off, and a neighbor called the police who were reluctant to do anything because it was on private property. Fortunately the alarm stopped after 45 minutes. I wrote a letter of apology to all my neighbors.

Here is a hint if you ever lock your keys out of your car.

If you have a set at home, call your house ,and have someone point your keyless remote into the phone. You on the other hand put your cell phone about 6-12 inches away from your door. The RFs should trigger and open your door up.

The alarm finally stopped at 3:30 am :x Then the lawn mowers started at 7!   I didn't call the Police, I figure they have more important things to do. :wench:

That's about as annoying as when the people across the street come home at 2 or 3 am blaring their music with the windows down. Then they let it play for 5 or 10 min before they shut the car off.

Has a car alarm ever stopped a vehicle from being stolen? When I hear one, I don't look for a criminal, I just roll my eyes and hope the owner is nearby to shut it off. If I was stealing a car, I would look at everybody nearby, say "Sorry about the noise, I can't find my clicker" and proceed to hot-wire the car.

We've tried this at work. With both cell and land line phones. It's DOESN"T work. They both work on different frequences.

any properly installed alarm shouldn't do this. as a former installer I can tell my customers they don't have to worry about it. but that doesn't mean it won't on some of them.
