CAR ALARMS
Well here it is 12:40 am on a holiday weekend, and some a$$ holes car alarm is going off for an hour and forty five minutes. It started during a thunder storm and hasn't stopped! Can't the owner recognize his own alarm? ARRRGHHHH

Re: CAR ALARMS
Perhaps they are not around. Several years ago, my best friend left his car in my driveway, and forgot to leave a set of keys with me. Sure enough, the alarm went off, and a neighbor called the police who were reluctant to do anything because it was on private property. Fortunately the alarm stopped after 45 minutes. I wrote a letter of apology to all my neighbors.IrishPirate wrote:Well here it is 12:40 am on a holiday weekend, and some a$$ holes car alarm is going off for an hour and forty five minutes. Here is a hint if you ever lock your keys out of your car.IrishPirate wrote:Well here it is 12:40 am on a holiday weekend, and some a$$ holes car alarm is going off for an hour and forty five minutes. If you have a set at home, call your house ,and have someone point your keyless remote into the phone. You on the other hand put your cell phone about 6-12 inches away from your door. The RFs should trigger and open your door up.

Has a car alarm ever stopped a vehicle from being stolen? When I hear one, I don't look for a criminal, I just roll my eyes and hope the owner is nearby to shut it off. If I was stealing a car, I would look at everybody nearby, say "Sorry about the noise, I can't find my clicker" and proceed to hot-wire the car.

We've tried this at work. With both cell and land line phones. It's DOESN"T work. They both work on different frequences.jimsig wrote:Snopes has debunked this http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/keyless.asp.Big Jimmy wrote:Here is a hint if you ever lock your keys out of your car.

any properly installed alarm shouldn't do this. as a former installer I can tell my customers they don't have to worry about it. but that doesn't mean it won't on some of them.ragtopW wrote:the Cops in some places I know..
