One thing I have to say is that writing a cookbook is a labor of love. Without doubt, trying (and retrying in some cases) recipes has been enjoyable for us over the past two years. We're in the final stretch of the second book, and it's really turning out great. Thanks again for all of the support and kind words, here's a sneak peak at a few dishes from the upcoming book.

I'll post up the recipe of one of the four dishes below based on popular demand, just let me know which!

 Sorry. Can't drink liquor mixed with caramel colored beverages. Especially diet (and I drink diet regularly). Not sure why. Makes me sick every time. Now....a little ginger ale thrown in there & I'm right as rain.

I don't mind the coconut, although (no offense meant) coconut deep fried shrimp are everywhere. Much rather have them grilled, although if they are pan-fried chicken style I might have to change my mind.

Rum Cake - Italian sponge cake soaked in rum flavoring with one layer of vanilla cream, one layer of chocolate cream and garnished with sliced almonds around the outside.

The Shrimp would be my choice. You'd better start a Poll!

that sounds good.

Have you been to the Tommy Bahama restaurant at Pointe Orlando?

Nope, but any rum locker is a good rum locker :D I'll talk to Jen and see what's up. She's off for the summer, so that gives a little more leeway on planning. Any particular day of the week better for you two?

If we are all talking food....which since my lap band is a sadly missed thing of the past.
I have to put my vote in for the Shrimp....love coconut shrimp no matter how you fry it up.

If you want to try a phenominal place to eat while in Key West, you must try the new Rum Barrel on Front Street across from Ron Jon's and next to the Pirate Museum. They have the most delicious fresh fish sandwich with homemade key lime mayo that makes you beg for more. And if you're from Philly, you can get a real cheesteak "wit" or "witout" ( Cheez Wiz and all) on Amoroso Bread that Pat Croce the owner has flown down fresh .....it's just so home sweet home !!!
Got to tell you the rum is also not so shabby hence the name of the place !!!

I'll def. have to look that place up. It's been a while since I've been back north (grew up in State College PA), so a cheesteak would sure be nice as a side dish to that fish sandwich.

So far the coconut shrimp is in the lead! Any more takers on the rum burger?
