Lake MI claims transplant team/harvested lungs
A Cessna Citation Jet carrying a U of M organ transplant team went down in Lake MI this afternoon after departing Milwaukee's Mitchell Field.
In addition to the 6 on board, including the surgeons, the freshly harvested lungs were lost as well. 6 dead, plus another will be now that one less pair of lungs are available. The intended recipient was just hours away from a new lease on life.
Us Parrotheads think about large bodys of water and planes that fly over them alot, this reminds us of the potential dangers that await.
These folks tried hard to save lives, but sometimes things go wrong and they fail.

Here is the Story from WFRV...
Plane That Crashed In Lake Michigan Held UM Transplant Team
MILWAUKEE (AP) - The mother-in-law of one of the passengers on a plane that crashed Monday in Lake Michigan just off the coast of Milwaukee says she's gotten no word on survivors.
Sharon Manier's son-in-law is Richard Lapensee.
She says the family is asking for privacy.
All the passengers onboard the plane are members of the University of Michigan Flight Survival team that's part of the U of M Health System.
Dennis Hoyes and Bill Serra are pilots for Marlin Air, which flies all of the missions for Survival Fight.
The other four passengers - Doctor David Ashburn, Richard Chenault, II, Lapensee and Doctor Martin Spoor - are U of M employees.
University officials say the Coast Guard is leading the search for survivors.
The Coast Guard says a person could survive in current water temperatures for as many 16 hours.
The aircraft was being leased to the university by Toy Air and based at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti (Michigan).
It was en route back to U of M after procuring organs for transplant into a patient there.
That patient remains in critical condition, and the health system says it will not release the person's identity.
