Was anyone aware or has there been an official announcement Toots & The Maytals are playing with Jimmy at the shows in Boston? Their website shows Sept 2nd and 8th at Gillette Stadium . . .

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't that fabulous?!?!?!?! They're opening for a couple shows on DMB's tour but when I found out they were opening for Jimmy decided that I really didn't need to go to the DMB shows they're opening at! So excited!

Just saw them last night at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, NY -- a fantastic show -- they will do a great job kicking off the fun for the Boston Shows!!!

So this means there will be at least three shows on this tour with opening acts, when you look back to Robert Earl Keen in Texas.
Any clue why Jimmy's using opening acts this year? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love it; but I wonder what caused the change...

I think it is an attempt to get people out of the parking lot and into the stadium sooner. You will have about 75,000 phans trying to get into the stadium in time for Jimmy. This will encourage more pholks to go in early to enjoy the opening act and not just sit waiting in the stands bored.
The people who run Gillette (the Krafts) are a very savvy bunch, and they may have made an opening act a requirement to lessen the pressure at the gates as showtime approaches.

That makes somewhat sense, as I have
also heard an unconfirmed rumor they may not be opening the lots until 3 hours before the show - which is odd considering for 4PM Pats games, many people are set up by 10 AM!

The opening time I've read most often is 3:30 pm for stadium parking. Off-site lots will open early. Our reputation for pre-concert partying may have them trying to reduce or control the situation. The Patriots have always had many more problems at night games and they are probably looking at this the same way.
