Yeah, I don't want to be rude, but I have no sympathy for those feeling "ruined". I'd sacrifice a lot just to meet the man, shake his hand, get a quick picture and just quickly thank him for everything.

It's kind of a slap in the face to all of us that haven't met him to say that meeting him "ruins" the concert experience. Just remember how very lucky you've been, and instead of letting it "ruin" the concerts for you just go and say "Hey, I've met The Man before!" to everyone you meet. I promise you the reaction and interest that story will generate with most phans would make the concert worth it.

So congratulations on your good fortune, but STOP COMPLAINING. There's no such thing as "too good" or "too lucky" so just be thankful. I know I'm happy for you and I don't even know you! ;)

Use "spoiled" and use it in a joking tone. Otherwise, it comes across as whining, and there are folks who would give their eye teeth to get to go to a large concert much less fly across the globe to see Buffett who might not see the humour in a straight-faced delivery.

Maybe he's not kidding..... maybe it's a matter of "be careful what you ask for"...

Or as Mac wrote it, "What is it you are searching for? God help you if you find it."

if it truely is "ruined", wahhhhhh. He got what he wanted. Now he's griping. Sorry about your luck. There are more important things to feel badly over.

Thanks, everyone. Ringling, you're right, I should have said "spoiled."

I should not be whining. Every show has its own adventures, new people met, great times had.

If I had to pick which I look forward to more - the music or tailgate, I definitely am more fired up to see what surprises Jimmy might throw in during the show. Tailgating is ALWAYS great fun, of course!

I definitely am looking forward to someday hearing Cowboy in the Jungle live as well as hopefully Migration, The Wino and I Know, Death of an Unpopular Poet, etc...

Maybe I am just being crabby cuz I can't make it to Pittsburgh this weekend even after pulling up decent seats. Stupid 8 hour drive!

Oh well. Congrats to those of you who will be catching Jimmy somewhere this summer. Jimmy is still the best show around no matter where you're sitting.

I never thought I would see a thread like this . . . a debate over Jimmy's show being fun after a tropical vacation . . . my life must be good because I am fired up for AC next weekend!

I will continue to try and be ruined by those kind of experiences. Although I haven't been to a show in Aspen yet.
Let's plan on it this year......then you could have the trifecta of Buffett ruining experiences.....and I can live the illusion that I hang out with jet setters....

I had a ticket to last year's Aspen show but between the blizzard that hit Colorado and a few things that came up at work I had to cancel the trip.

I've been a ruined woman for many years.......
I'm hoping it's in the cards for me........if the weather would cooperate (figure the odds between Utah/Colo), it's not a bad drive for me....

Got "spoiled" several years with 2nd row center seats at Camden. The next year, didn't want to just "settle for lawn seats", so skipped a year. What was I thinking. It doesn't really matter where you sit, it's the whole experience. Now, I actually prefer lawn seats, most people under the shed roof aren't really into, they're mostly there because they heard it was a lot of fun and most don't even know any of the songs. So give me the lawn.

Heh

One thing I have learned in my few years on this daily planet is that it's only a paper moon.

I must admit, I share C&R's feelings...

No, I'm not "ruined" by Anguilla, although I may have used that phrase a time or two since the end of March. Yes, I am definately spoiled by the experience I have had on the island. And, for now at least, I'd kind of like to savor that for a while.

I've been to Jones' Beach every time he's played there for the last 15 years or so. I spent damn near $1,000 to take my wife and son to the Mohegan Sun show last year so they could see what all this craziness I've devoted my life to is all about. That show was great because we were closer to the stage than I had ever been at a "big" show. Jones' Beach is always great because I usually have a brother or two in tow and meet up with a big bunch of friends I only see at this show. But can they match up with Anguilla? No way.

Standing on the beach soaking up the sun and having Mr. Buffett walk up to us and stop and chat for a while. Meeting hundreds of Parrotheads at the Frangipanni party and still counting them as friends to this day. Sitting in the sand and joking around with Jimmy after Robert's pan dropped off the stand. Being part of the best 40th birthday party a Parrothead could ask for as BuffettonmyBMW turned that bend of life...These were once in a lifetime memories that I paid dearly for and will cherish until the day I die.

So, for this year at least, I choose not to go to AC or Pittsburgh or Mohegan Sun or the Boston shows. I'm sure I could create some lasting memories there, but I would rather hang on to the memories that are firmly in hand. Next year, I'm sure Jimmy will announce that he's coming to Jones' Beach and friends from all over the country will announce their intentions to be there. By then, you will not be able to beat me back with a stick. I'll be ready for another trip to Margaritaville and ready to start rebuilding the memory bank. I'll gladly tell my stories of those hot, sunny days on a Caribbean beach, but I'll also be damned glad I'm finding some new stories to tell.

And if you happen to make that show Catch & Release...the first beer is on me.

I owe you one.
