You are correct! Spoiled is the word. I too have been going to concerts since 93 every year. I am skipping this year as well because of the Anguilla experience. I also was one of the lucky ones walking down the beach right before the impromptu solo set on the beach. We were lucky enough to be placed dead center (I believe there were six people total, us being the middle two) in the front row. Having to look up to see Jimmy sitting about 5 feet in front of us for the 11 / 12 acoustic songs.........words just cannot explain it. Not in my wildest dreams would I even think something like that would happen. After shaking his hand, and taking a picture I was like a little girl meeting the Beatles. All I said was "thank you" Kind of comical because there are a thousand things I could have or would like to have said. I mean...does it get any better than that???? Probably never. I find myself this year being more excited for the Anguilla DVD to come out rather than going to another show. Will it change next year...probably. It's not that I do not want to go and experience the whole experience that a Buffett show brings, but I too would like everything that happened in Anguilla to continue to soak in for a while. Plus the fact that the Anguilla vacation wasn't the cheapest Buffett concert ever. Still paying it off. To sum it all up, I think this post was just misinterpreted, as it is hard to explain how great of an experience Anguilla was, and I'm sure we will all be back at the Buffett shows in the future with our fins up!

No, I'm not "ruined" by Anguilla, although I may have used that phrase a time or two since the end of March. Yes, I am definately spoiled by the experience I have had on the island. And, for now at least, I'd kind of like to savor that for a while.

I've been to Jones' Beach every time he's played there for the last 15 years or so. I spent damn near $1,000 to take my wife and son to the Mohegan Sun show last year so they could see what all this craziness I've devoted my life to is all about. That show was great because we were closer to the stage than I had ever been at a "big" show. Jones' Beach is always great because I usually have a brother or two in tow and meet up with a big bunch of friends I only see at this show. But can they match up with Anguilla? No way.

Standing on the beach soaking up the sun and having Mr. Buffett walk up to us and stop and chat for a while. Meeting hundreds of Parrotheads at the Frangipanni party and still counting them as friends to this day. Sitting in the sand and joking around with Jimmy after Robert's pan dropped off the stand. Being part of the best 40th birthday party a Parrothead could ask for as BuffettonmyBMW turned that bend of life...These were once in a lifetime memories that I paid dearly for and will cherish until the day I die.

So, for this year at least, I choose not to go to AC or Pittsburgh or Mohegan Sun or the Boston shows. I'm sure I could create some lasting memories there, but I would rather hang on to the memories that are firmly in hand. Next year, I'm sure Jimmy will announce that he's coming to Jones' Beach and friends from all over the country will announce their intentions to be there. By then, you will not be able to beat me back with a stick. I'll be ready for another trip to Margaritaville and ready to start rebuilding the memory bank. I'll gladly tell my stories of those hot, sunny days on a Caribbean beach, but I'll also be damned glad I'm finding some new stories to tell.

And if you happen to make that show Catch & Release...the first beer is on me.

I owe you one.
Did I meet you at Frangipanni Frozenbird? I don't remember a whole lot from that party!!!
Most women don't forget me that quickly 8)

Frozen Bird,

I gladly accept your offer to buy me a beer.

Just let me know when and where the show will be.

Erin and I were in awe of your stories from seeing Jimmy on the beach the day before the "official" concert. Even though we didn't get to see that amazing set, Anguilla was still perfect for us.

Best wishes.

Paul

You're only as ruined as you want to be. If you go to a show this summer and expect it to be anything like Anguilla, of course you'll be disappointed. Nothing will compare to that for what it was. Accept that and move on. I know how, in posts like this, there is a loss of intonation, so I would like to believe that you don't mean to sound as elitist as you do--"I've been to Anguilla and now nothing else will do"--and instead it's just being overwhelmed by that experience, looking at it, and not being able to think that anything will ever compare. My advice? Get in your car and go to Pittsburgh this weekend. Don't think about it, just do it. My thought is that you'll have a great time and, instead of being ruined by Anguilla, it will instead compliment all of your other Buffett memories.

After standing no more than 5 feet from him (I could have spit on him he was so close) at Aspen, seeing the sweat circles in his armpits (not profuse sweat, mind you) and getting to sing on stage with him.

All those were just as special as partying in the parking lot before the show at Nissan with my favoritist BN/BW buddies and sitting on the lawn.

It's all about how you make each time special and just knowing no matter what happens to have fun. As long as the show sounds good and I'm with good people, it doesn't matter what seat I have. :D
How did JB dedicate a song to you on your wedding day? Wouldn't you be at your wedding? or was there a concert on the day of your wedding? Just wondering.
I got married AT the Jimmy Buffett concert. The concert was my wedding reception.
Now that is dedicated. I'm impressed.

[quote="Catch&Release"]After seeing Jimmy from 10 feet away in Anguilla and after getting to shake his hand at the hotel where he was staying and after sitting one table away from him as he ate his breakfast on the morning of the Anguilla show, I am just not excited to see a show this summer.[quote]

Ummm . . . do you stop having sex after you've had the best sex you ever had? It may noy be mind knowingly great, a planet moving experience, but still pretty darn fun . . .

Conch Republican, interesting analogy

If all you're used to is the girl next door and then for a brief moment you get to have sex with Giselle Bunchden or Marissa Miller, sex with the girl next door would never quite be the same, dont you think? :o

The same? No. Does that make one worthy of Monk status now though? I hope not!!!!

Unfortunately, the way this analogy is going, I think listening to CDs will be the equivalent of masturbating! [smilie=happyspin.gif]

MacPhin,

Sorry, I didn't take any photos of the patisserie.

I also wish we had a chance to meet up with you.

Hopefully there can be an Anguilla concert goers reunion in Aspen! Or, maybe Jimmy will make a repeat appearance at the Dunes Preserve.

The thing about Giselle, like Alexandria and the other supermodels is, I'd be afraid I'd cut myself on their hip bones they're so skinny. Now, you want to talk about "nothing will be the same" sex and Salma Hayek or Catherine Zeta-Jones are mentioned, well, that's a different story!

Well, I pulled a 15th row single for Pittsburgh.

And I bought it.

Guess we'll see how it compares to AXA! Hope I am up to the 400 mile drive tomorrow!

I heard from a trusted source that there would be a "next year!"

I'm hoping it is true!!! 8) 8) 8) 8)
