New to Vegas....

Post by mickiid »

Hey there! Been lurking and finally got my tickets for the 20th show. First time in Vegas and I am wondering 1) do you need tickets to LMS or the Block party? 2) anyone try staying somewhere else on the strip and does the monorail work like they say? We are going solo this time (no one we know will be there) so it should be interesting!! Thanks for any advice in advance!!

Check out the Vegas Parrothead club website for LMS ticket info. Its at Hooters this year. Monorail works very well especially for getting back to room after parties. But beware, it closes at 2am or some such time. This is my first time in vegas with others also, but as mentioned above, everyone has been great. Check out the 10/20/07 or 10/27/07 forums depending on which weekend your going. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

Welcome mickiid! I added you to the ophicial Vegas whose going list. You will know all us Bn'ers by October...no worries.

We went last year and didn't really know anyone either (or so we thought) - but had a grand time at Margaritaville and the Block Party; met up with lots of BNers.

We stayed at the Flamingo and walked to MGM - mapquest says 1.84 miles - but that seems too long - wasn't really that bad - never took the monorail. Definately don't need a car.

See you in October!

Good tips, just a couple more comments:

There is no tailgating at the show, it is at MGM indoors as part of the MGM casino complex. Again, car is a negative here.

The block party at Margaritaville is a lot of fun. It is free, but get there early, and I suggest you leave by 5 pm and head over to the MGM. They have their own version of a party in the mall area of the casino heading to the venue. You have restaurants, and all are geared up serving parrotheads Margaritas, beers, and food. Bathroom situation is great.

After the show, here is a tip if you need a cab. Quickly walk across street to New York New York and catch a cab there, you will miss the huge cab line at the MGM

Yea, the monorail is an option, but sort of expensive- plus half the fun of vegas is walking by all the casinos.

Plus, it will be october so the weather will be perfect - not too hot not too cold.

Welcome!! LMS requires tickets....Usually $25...if you get them early you also recieve a cool limited edition tshirt.....other wise generally avalible at the door but no tshirt (That's why it is a limited edition...!). Monorail works but I find that it is far more entertaining to walk the strip and revel in the reactions of the "common" folk (Of course in full Parrothead regalia...grass skirt, cocnut bra, big 'ole plastic boobs, throw beads...etc) I beleive that I am in more japanese tourists photo albums than anyone else!!! I rank right up there with the Elvis imitators!!! :D :D :D
So my advise is to dress appropriatly, and have a lot of fun with it!!!

Fixed it for you DH.

Great tips above. Is it BG's birthday again? That was a hoot last year. One other transport tip, as I usually stay downtown to save cash for rum. The city busses are a great option, and you can get 24-hour passes for $5. Like DH, it's pretty fun opening some eyes of folks that have no clue about parrotlife...
