anybody catch the season finale. Wow. It was good with some tense moments. After the Catch has become one of my favorite parts.

This was the best "catch" season yet. I saw the previous 2 and was thinking I would skip this year, but after seeing the first episode I was hooked. I really enjoyed the after the catch shows too. Haven't seen the final episode yet but am looking forward to it.

The Ice Truckers on the History Channel might get me through the summer. First episode was interesting. Don't know if it will have the holding power.

i think this was one of the best seasons too. I don't want to post any spoilers. I love the after the catch because it's great to see the captains sit around and just chat. I wish they had more time with this and more captains.

Love that show. Just saw part of the finale, usually catch most on the reruns. Some shows have been available on request with digital cable, but not all.

Have you seen the "After the Catch" shows yet? A four-part (I think) series, with the captains & host just sitting in a bar having some brews and talking about fishing, with some show highlights. I caught the first one, I think they're showing #2 now.

I had a friend who was crazy enough to head out there to try and get a job. No luck. I guess people sit around the villages out there and just wait for the call . . . great money and the stories . . . wow! Such a cool show.

Most of the ships websites have FAQ's and usually included is about how to go about getting a jobs on board. The answer usually given is they all have long time crew members, family etc. Some recommend getting on with one of the fish processors and that way you will get known.

Like you said...most of the crew are family and very close friends. On the very rare occasion we will hire someone off the dock but they have to check out before they get hired (ie have a local history, not be a dunk or druggie, no know phychos and no absolute greenhorns......). I think I can count on one hand the number of guys we have hired off the dock....and often to our dismay...."Oh I didn't know it would be this hard" or "gee, I've never gotten sea sick before!"   ......you can imagine........

If you followed this season the rookie who proved to be most problematic was the one hired last minute out of the bar, basically. I think he was known and had worked and captained salmon boats but he was just a crying baby.

SOme times it works, sometimes it doesn't.....oit has not worked out well for us....as such we would rather sail short than risk a unknown...

Ahhh But you live in Tampa Bay....I bet when you drive up the road to Georgia you need a blanket!!!!

I grew up in the desert in S California. When my parents would come up to Dutch Harbor in the summertime they would be dressed in long pants and down coats...we would just laugh as we stood there in shorts and tshirts....you just get acclimated to it..belive it or not!! :D :D

I've seen it but to me it's kinda repetetive and a little morbid when you're entertained by the occasional sinking of a ship.
Like any reality show though, the more drama the better.
