My review of Kenny Fest- Lincoln Financial Field

Just got back from 12 hours at the stadium. We started tailgating at 11 AM- my brother in law had his RV there and we spent the first few hours drinking Cruzan Confusions. Had plenty of Snapple before the show started though as I did not want to miss any of it.
Pat Green was good- too bad not too many people came in to see him open. I really like his music and he played Bruce Springsteen's Atlantic City and did a very nice job at that. Sara Evans was next and she looked and sounded great.
Sugarland followed. They are so ready to be a headliner. They had a carnival backdrop for Enjoy the Ride, the name of their tour and CD and they played all their hits. I love Jennifer and Kristian's energy. They did a great job sans Jon Bon Jovi on Who Says You Can't Go Home and it was very cool to see the whole full stadium at this point sing Bon Jovi even without them there They were incredible.
Next was Brooks and Dunn. I have always wanted to see them and they did not disappoint. They played an hour of old and new hits and ended with an encore of Believe which is such an amazing song which Ronnie Dunn sings so well and Only In America complete with red white and blue confetti and Marines on stage. I think these guys have lost their hearing though because the sound was way too loud for their set. But they rocked!
Kenny finally came on after an intro movie with a Jack Sparrow look alike introducing the set. I love the whole island and pirate vibe and as an old parrothead will finally see the original, Jimmy Buffett live on Tuesday and am interested to see the comparison. Kenny's show is high energy, country rock and roll with no slowing down. He sang all of the hits of course and I love his new one, Never Wanted Nothing More. Uncle Kracker made his requisite appearance (does this man actually do anything else these days but tour with Kenny, just asking ) on When the Sun Goes Down which led to the requisite Cowboy song but it is always fun to watch! Kenny was in a great mood, looked like he was having fun, and put on a fantastic show! Overall the whole day was well planned and ran like clockwork which I appreciated with the acts moving on and off efficiently. I have seen Kenny about four times now and this was my favorite. Plus, my husband was there to dance with on Anything But Mine
Interesting crowd- many ages represented. Overall a good vibe, though we had one poor drunken soul behind us who seemed like a nice man with his family but he arrived sloshed and by the end of the night was ready to pass out, only to be stood up and propped up by his wife like some bizarre weekend at Bernie's routine I hope they got home ok. It was certainly a party atmosphere in Philly and who knew there were so many cowboy hats in Philly? I highly recommend the stadium show experience, and if you can tailgate first it makes it even more fun Now why is that run gone again

Seen Brooks and Dunn twice in the last 9 months. They are one of THE BEST live bands out there. I would actually rather go see them over Jimmy anyday... Well doesnt help the last two times I saw them I was in the 10th and 12th rows. Saw them a few weeks ago--- they shared the bill with Alan Jackson - Probably one of the top 3 shows I have seen in the last 10 years.
Sugarland I saw Open for B&D last year--- Jennifer Nettles is one smoking hot chick who knows how to work the crowd. Id love to go see her again.
I probably woulda left half way during Kenny's set--only to beat traffic outta the place.

perhaps my expectations were too high . . . Chesney just didn't have it. No encore . . . (he had time for one more) and the whole Uncle Cracker duet singing a Kid Rock cover made me laugh out loud. Few parties after . . . most people I saw back at the Holiday Inn were done and heading to their rooms (thank god for Parrot Heads because these Cheseny fans were lame!!!!!!). I can see why people like him but for a guy who doesn't get on stage until 9:30 and leaves stage before curfew Mr. Chesney could have done more. Glad you had fun though! I got drunk. Can't complain too much.

You know that was my one disappointment- Kenny really should have done a longer encore. I think most fans were tired if they started as early in the day as we did. Can't wait now for Tuesday for the real deal

in Camden.

I will be in AC . . . unfortunately I will have to miss Camden. Life is hard sometimes

.
Kenny isn't bad . . . . by the way, but the one thing that I personally feel he does poorly is communicate with the crowd. Jimmy is real. Kenny speaks very quickly and the stories don't come out right. Like when Kenny was talking bout Sweet Home Alabama . . . the band couldn't even jump in at the right time. Otherwise, he is a decent performer. Have fun in Camden!

Pat Green is fantastic. Seen him three times now, opening for Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews Band, and as a headliner a few years ago in Memphis when we cooked at the Memphis in May World Championship BBQ Contest. He had more than 30 min. at the DMB show, and was able to go a little deeper into his catalog than with KC. All his CDs are fantastic. Good Stuff.

Yes, I was impressed, would love to see him do a longer set. I have a couple of his CD's.
