OK who bought/stole the giant flip-flop

Post by OceanCityGirl »

On the way into ocean city there's a cheezy tourist shop. They have a display outside that had a giant flip-flop as part of the look. It wasn't for sale. It was over 6' tall and I think rubber. MrOc thought it'd be neat for our car to go to concert. Stopped to look at it and was told it was gone. Either somebody took it or somehow got them to sell it. I have my suspicions that I might see it at Camden tomorrow.

Many years ago (late 80's/early 90's) I found this giant wave on display in the window of an inland surf shop in Maryland. The display was in the front window of the store and had a surfboard mounted where the girl in the photo is sitting with a 27" television sitting on the surfboard running a continous loop of surf videos. I spoke to the owner of the shop many times over about 2 years and told him whenever he changed the window display that I wanted that giant wave. It was about 7 feet tall, 8 feet wide and 4 feet deep. I planned on putting the wave in my basement and placing my television on it.

For over 2 years I kept going back to that surf shop monthly checking on the wave. I even bought a board there. The owner had my business card taped to the back of the wave and he knew I wanted it. Then over the winter the surf shop went out of business and I didn't hear anything from the owner.

The following summer at Merriweather Post Pavilion ....... there was my wave out in the parking lot. Some other goober had talked the manager of the store into giving him the wave. I'm still bummed out about it.

People from Balmer, Merlin (Baltimore, Maryland) go downey ayshin (down the ocean) - at the beach, specifically Ocean City, Maryland ("Spent sum'r weekends downey ayshin") . 'At' or 'to' is implied, but not a part of the elision. :D

Not to be confused with Danny Ocean (George Clooney ... Oceans 11/12/13).
