He usually plays through without an intermission when it's raining.

Yep, Jimmy stated at the beginning of the show that there would be no intermission due to the rain.

It was noted in the setlist thread.

Last year took me multiple hours to get from the I-66 exit to the pavilion (just a couple miles) and missed the beginnning of the concert and I'm about 40 miles NE of Nissan. This year I decided that it was more worthwhile to drive to Pittsburgh. Based on the traffic I hit this year (with a highway closure) compared to Nissan last year, it took me less than 1 extra hour to go to Pittsburgh. On top of that, there's less parking chaos there, the tailgating atmosphere was better in my opinion, the police were more at ease than at Nissan, the venue is almost identical to Nissan, but a little smaller and getting out of the lot couldn't have been easier. It makes me question why I would go to Nissan for Jimmy again and deal with the traffic and stress when I could drive a little longer and go to PA or even less to Camden, NJ. That's better than the gamble on Nissan any day.

Never noticed that in the past. LOL. Thanks for pointing it out.

Now, I'm the last person to question a golf priority [and did you see the article in the Post about the PGA pro and the author playing Hains Point?].

I guess for me, the pre-party is almost the best part of the whole experience. Get a chance to let loose, hang with friends, meet new ones. The show is the icing on the cake, just the catalyst really. So i have a rule, day of a show, start the party NO LATER THAN NOON.

Only show i saw in DC was what i think was the last one at Merriweather. It was on the 3rd of July, 2-3 years ago? Now THAT was a fun show...

To start off this was our 12th year going to Nissan. After the first year of the bad traffic,we get there early. This year we got there at 1:30pm,we had a good time! The extra $20 to park pays off at the end when we got out of the lot by 10:50pm.The show was great! The first couple songs the sound was off,but after that the sound was good.WE HAD FINGERS!!!!!NO intermission,it was raining! The last time it rained,no intermission.A Peter M. solo!WE HAD FINGERS!!!!!Jimmy does only change a few songs per show, but it's worth it.Tin Cup Chalise was a last minute change, because when they setup,Jimmy told the roadie" we're not doing it because Fingers is here".The only down side was the number of times the people in our row had to leave to get beer.Hello, you do have 2 hands get an extra 1.I'll be back every year!THE PLEASURE IS WORTH ALL THE PAIN!!!WE HAD FINGERS!!!!FINS UP!!!

Now there is someone who can find the silver f***ing lining, whiners. I would have stood in the pouring rain all day to have Fingers back in the line-up. SOASOAS with Fingers? Tin Cup Chalice with Fingers?!?!?!? Coast of F***ing Marseille with Fingers?!? That bears repeating for those in the know: Coast of Marseille with Fingers Taylor on the harp!!! I got to see Keith Sykes a few years back get on stage with Jimmy on this one and I tell ya, he may have written the song, but Jimmy/Fingers "made" the song.

COAST OF MARSEILLE with Fingers Taylor playing harmonica. I just had to type it one more time. Just seeing it in print looks good. Hope I can find this download.

I had tickets in section 101 for the Nissan Show. We were all fired up for the last few months. Us 4 guys played golf in the morning, while the girls got all the food, coolers, and stuff ready for the tailgate at Nissan.
We came home around noon, showered, and left around 2:00 from Annapolis. This trip usually takes a little over one hour to Nissan.
Well, it took us 3 hours to get there. Backed up traffic, accidents everywhere, etc.
By the time we got in, parked, got set up, we had less than 2 hours to tailgate. The weather was crappy, then it started raining hard on the way in.
Ok, so at least we had the show to look forward too. But for some reason, I feel a bit empty. Like I didn't get my money's worth. It seemed to go by way to fast. Probably b/c he didn't take a break during the show.
I was also p*** b/c his "on the road again" song by Willie sucked. He forgot half the words and the band sounded awful. Actually he sounded lame and of beat for about the first 3 songs. Then I have to listen too that Elvis song which I hate.
I just don't know why he doesn't play what his best stuff. Why have that Elvis song, and a few others that are terrible?

Anyway, just venting b/c we all felt like we didn't enjoy the show. I have been going for 15 years, and this was not one I will mark as one of the best for sure.

Anyone else go to Nissan who feels the same?

At least I have Vegas in October.
I wish i had nothing better to do than complain about Jimmy, but I have too much to do

Perfect point! STOP COMPLAINING...IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE SAME SETLIST YEAR AFTER YEAR...DON'T GO!

The man sells his concerts out in 20 minutes...if it takes 40 minutes instead and we can do without the whiners, so be it. We'll all be happier.

allucaneatbuffett wrote:Hey Migration Michelle, let's not go too hasty here. If I wasn't happy about a couple things, it is my right to vent if I want. This is America. And to anyone who told me I shouldn't have been playing golf, well, mind your business. It is tradition for us to play golf in the morning, then head to the show. Whether we choose a typical 4 hours of tailgating, or 7 hours, is nobody elses concern.

If I feel like griping, I will. The bottom line is that the traffic going to Nissan was the main reason I am a bit dissapointed. To take 3 hours, actually a bit more, is unbelievable to me. I guess b/c we have been lucky over the years and it has never taken longer than half that. Oddly enough, we got out of the parking lot quick and were home in exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes after we pulled out.

I don't normally care at all about the set list. But let's be honest here. I don't mind one bit about paying $140 for my pavillion seat. We all choose to do it, and it has never bothered me. But, at the very least, you would expect JB to at least remember the words to a song!! wouldn't you? He stuttered through On the Road Again, then slipped up during License To Chill.

Anyway, some of you are right, it was still a JB show and nothing beats it.
You can gripe all you want. Freedom of speech and all that.... But don't expect people to agree with you and get p*ssed off when they don't......

OK...I'm back from Atlantic City and this is the first thread I read.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? :o
I left my house at 1:50 PM and I live 10 miles from Nissan. Surfpirate is right...my advice would be to rent a helicopter or LEAVE EARLIER!!

Last year we were freezing and soaked at Charlotte.
Last year my husband was sunburned and dehydrated at Nissan
We've been LOTS of traffic.
The pleasure was definitely worth all the pain! 8)

BTW...we were having our boatdrinks by 3 PM and visiting with new phriends  and back out on 66 in 10 minutes after the show....wet, tired and VERY GRATEFUL the 60 year old man continues to HIT THE ROAD AGAIN!!!! :D :D :D :D

Oh...I also thought he sounded great and Fingers was there!

they parked us back on lot F (as in FREAGIN' far away)

we waited for TWO hrs after the show and did not move

i was sooooooooooo p***

there's no excuse for that

nissan is back in the boonies and they could make a lot more roads in and out of there (or make the existing roads 3 lanes wide in lieu of one)

it really does hurt the whole concert experience where you're trapped there for 2 hrs after the show

i've been waiting for an excuse to try camden.........i think this is it

note: our seats were really good and the show was good

I was at Charlotte and Nissan both last year. The first was rainy and cold, the second hotter than the sun. Even though it rained this year, we were still warm. And Fingers played with Jimmy. It could have been snowing and I still would have enjoyed it. One of my all time favorites!

Um, how so? Great Woods has one road out. We KNOW it will be two hours. We recommence with food and drink (diet coke for me at that point, since I'm driving), crank up some tunes, visit with friends, talk about the show, and wait for the traffic to clear. :D
