traffic at starlake

Post by ormz6 »

Did anyone have a sh**y time because of that INSANE traffic jam on rt.22 ? we were stuck in our cars for almost three hours. No time to tailgate and missed the first three songs . We've been coming to PA for 10 years and never had any problems. It really sucked and ruined the night for about 25 of us. :o

Nope. Got there early. I never even slowed down on 22 (except for the exit, of course). Drove past the entrance 2 times looking for beer. Never had anyone in front of us. Of course we got there at 1:00. Because of that I can say that I have never missed the first (insert number here) songs of any of his shows because of traffic. See the Bristow Rant thread for the discussion of concert day priorities. BTW, you didn't play golf that morning, did you?

no golf, just a ride from beautiful Buffalo NY, and a stop by the hotel to get our rooms and to start the party by the pool, as we have done for years. I just guess this was the year that nothing went right. Hope it never happens to anyone else

We didn't have a problem at all either. We got there a little after 1:00 and got in a good 7 hours or so of tailgating. We used to have a problem there because they advertise the lots open at 3:00, but as soon as traffic starts backing up, they open the lots up. They are always open by 12:30 at the latest.

I couldn't make it this year, but the rest of my crew did, and they said there was a huge traffic snarl once they got inside. They got there around 2:30 and said the roads were completely clear, but once they got on the "driveway" that leads into the parking lot, traffic came to a standstill and it took them an hour just to get from the gate to their spot in the lot.

We've been going to Star Lake since '94 and we've never had a problem getting in and parked. But apparently this year something got seriously goofed up.

No problems on the freeway, but the parking lot was a bit slow. We got there about 2ish.

my brother and i came early. in fact we were the second car in the lot.
we were the ones that had the tiki bar set up right next to the road
way in the back lot. we kept yelling "sober parrotheads, sober
parrot heads" as the cars went by. :pirate:

I'm not a firefighter, so I don't think so.

I think I stopped at your tiki hut and had a beer. The one I stopped at was brought in a UHaul truck.

Nope. Ours was a green mini-van, white canopy, wooden tiki-bar
with grass skirt around it, and we were serving
cranberry margaritas, coconut rum, and Tequiza.
I was in the white sportcoat with a pink crustaceon and white
captain's hat. The bar, outfit, and the cranberry margaritas were
a big hit. Come by next time. Look for the big gale warning flag. :pirate:

I usually go to Starlake (post gazette) for DMB every year - this was my first trip to Pitt for Buffett - traffic is always horrible the later it gets - we learned from mistakes in the past - you have to get there early - and the weather was PERFECT that day - so it was awesome to chill in the lot all day - sorry about the traffic - but that place really dosent have many ways in or out - good luck for next year!
