Can I see some ID?

Post by ToplessRideFL »

Sunday everyone in Tennessee will have to show ID to buy beer!

Drastic...but I can see the point... but why is it limited to beer?

I wouldn't have a problem with that. It means some checkout girl that's just home for the summer doesn't have to look at every single customer and try to guess their age. Why some people get offended when they do ask for i.d., I don't know. Check everybody, every time, so what?

I've been in stores where they don't ask for ID but they ask for your date of birth. The cashier enters the date in the register and if you're over 21, no problem. I guess they figure if someone is underage with fake ID, they'll forget what year they have to be born in to be 21.

They need to have the mandatory ID thing when you're buying 'wine' too... Boone's doesn't get bought by anybody over 21, I don't think :o

Sounds like another tree has been sacrificed because some politician wanted to pass a feel good law. It is already illegal for people under 21 to drink any alcohol. It is already illegal for a vendor to sell a minor any alcohol. It is the responsibility of the minor and the seller to comply with the laws in existance. If they can't comply with those, what makes anyone think that they will comply with the new law? How is that one going to be enforced? Beer police going to stand by the clerk and make sure they check id? Good law. Congratulations TN.

It's just beer, Topless, cause kids don't know crap about wine. Look at what I bought wehn I was was under age. Natty Light, Beast, Red Dog, and Ever clear. not much else.
"Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company.
And all the harm that I ever did, Alas it was to none but me.
And since it falls, unto my lot, that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, 'Goodnight and Joy be with you all.'"

In IL there have been a few times where I was turned down for alcohol purchase because I forgot my dl and they have mandatory carding for anybody who the cashier thinks is under 35 I believe, with posted signs.

In Illionois, I've seen signs that tell everyone to show ID, "We'd card your grandmother if she ordered a beer."

I can't even remember the last time I was carded in my home state of Illinois. Heck I am still tryin to think of the last time I was carded at the what is now called first midwest bank ampitheater - probably had to be the time when I was 20, using a fake ID, and the people in line behind me kept tellin the broad that the ID did belong to me.
