weather was bad here yesterday for fourth, fireworks were canceled etc. BBQ was not so great either. So I asked mroc if he wanted me to make him chocolate chip cookies. He rarely eats sugar so this would be a big treat plus I never do this, so clearly I was possessed. Started mixing up the batter and had butter sugar and three of four eggs blended. It was coming together beautifully and believe me I'm no cook. Then the fourth egg. For some reason I didn't shut off the mixer and cracked the egg directly into the bowl. Somehow I dropped the bottom shell into the bowl. It was one of those slo-mo noooooooo..... moments while I reached to shut off the mixer before it passed over the eggs. I was too late. I tried to pick out shells but mostly it had been crushed into the batter. I had no more butter and it was a really beautiful batter. So....
I blended it a whole lot to crush up the shells really well and added extra chips and nuts and told nobody. If you knew my mroc you'd know how big an offense this was.

I've also not been paying attention and added baking powder instead of baking soda, swapped the amount of flour and sugar needed, and the list goes on.
Some came out good or better, others went right in the trash. But you are absolutely right in you never know until you do it.
Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all..
