Don't Stop the Carnival

Does anyone know why Buffett never, ever plays anything from Don't Stop the Carnival? It's my favorite and I love so many of the songs on that album. I so wish the show would re-open somewhere so I could see it - missed it in Florida.

What's up with the songs? Did he sell the rights or something?

Let me know if anyone has any info. Thanks.

I believe that it works better as a whole, not individual songs. therefore to play a few seperate songs live really wouldn't make much sense.

But I would be very excited about a concert playing just songs from the Carnival..

My parents bought tickets to see the show when it was in some tropical island. They canceled the show a couple months before their trip. They were very disappointed.

I would LOVE to see Don't Stop the Carnival Preformed!

It's been a few years but he has played some of the songs from Don't Stop The Carnival at concerts. Off the top of my head I can think of Kinja, Calaloo and Time To Go Home. There may be others.

"Island Fever" would be perfect for any Buffett show

Last played "Calaloo" in 2001

Nothing else since 1999.

(He's never played my favorite..."Island Fever")

Jimmy should play that one song, about that one guy, the guy with the tools, the handy guy....what's his name???

Island Fever would be good. and I seem to quite often find myself singing Calaloo....and am now, thanks!

Yes, it's a must before he retires that he plays Island Fever!

I was looking at the tour page and all the dates and was stunned that he, from what I could tell, never or hardly played Beach House On The Moon, Barometer Soup or even Lone Palm. And of course, A Salty Piece Of Land. I know those are long songs but they're all so good. He needs to play them.

And Island Fever.

I'd rather see the production of DSTC, than hear him do songs in concert....

But if he wants to do them in concert, I won't complain :D

I saw a car with a CALALOO license plate (at the beach, of course) and that song's been stuck in my head ever since.

My favorite opening is the DSTC tour ... the red bike was close this year, but the dance troupe outfit is still the best!

DSTC was revived by JB with the help of Herman Wouk (author) as a musical production. It ran briefly at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. I so wish I had made my reservations and travelled down island to witness the production. In fact, Jimmy, if you are listening... I would be willing to help bankroll a second chance production. I love this novel and read it twice annually. I listen to the CD of the musical score from JB all the time. The characters are very real to me and the combination of reading the book and listening to JB's tracks paint a vivid picture of Herman Wouk's classic. The novel is considered by many to be the "Bible" for living in the Caribbean. I, for one, would love to hear "Island fever" or "it's all about the water" at my next JB concert. great stuff!

Sorry but I cannot help bankroll the production, but would be more than glad to make a trip to just about any Caribbean island to see it! Many of the songs in DSTC are favorites of mine. Son and hubbie agree that the novel is classic. Nice to think about them once again.l
