Don Shula won it in 1972 when he went 14-0 in the regular season. The Miami Dolphins had previously been fined and striped of a first round draft pick for tampering in order to get Shula. 16-0 is 16-0. Belicheat deserves the win. He's still a piece of crap, but he deserved to win this award. No matter WHAT the expectations were, if a coach who takes his team 16-0 doesn't get Coach of the Year honors, the award shouldn't exist.
