I am heading to Myrtle tomorrow and thought that Jimmy made an appearance at Margaritaville there these past few years in July. Does anyone have info about when he may be appearing? Ill probably ending up calling there to see if they'll tell me anything, I just don't want to sound like a nerdy tourist

Just FYI - I was there last week, and I don't know if it was b/c of 4th of July holiday or what, but there was a 3 to 3 1/2 hour wait for tables for dinner. I showed up at 4pm, waited in line for 20 minutes
just to put my name in, was told to come back in
two hours to get a pager, and was
finally seated close to 8pm that night.
Granted, a big part of the reason I went to MB was to go to a Margaritaville that I had not yet been to before, so we waited outside at the "Stranded on a SandBAR." Played the Bohemian ring toss game for hours... Anyway, obviously there was no sign of Jimmy (not that I expected one), but the band they had playing played a lot of Jimmy cover tunes, and quite well in my opinion.
Also, be prepared to wait in line in the "Smuggler's Hold" T-shirt shop as well.
I don't mean to sound negative or anything...just want to make sure you're prepared for the wait that I endured last week. After all was said and done, the food was good and I'm glad I waited. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the tips! We've been going every year since it opened and have always ended up getting a one of those boat tables across from the bar. But this year we called in and got a few priority seating dates, which still take about 2 hours to be seated... guess its better than 4. Well I know its doubtful, but it would be great if Jimmy was there when we were...

I thought I recognized that neon sign in your avatar...was pretty sure that was the one outside at MB. I took a similar pic last week!
Enjoy your trip, and good luck with the crowds!!

He made an appearance there to celebrate the opening. That was his only appearance there. He doesn't appear there on a regular basis! (although it would be nice!!

I can see the holiday times being extra crowded. Other wise from when they open-2ish it's not too bad. From there on the wait time increases

. We went the year it opened, during the last of July @ 4ish and had a 2.5 hour wait. Last year we went the middle of October @ 4ish and had a 2 hour wait.

Yes jimmy played Margaritaville Myrtle Beach in may of 2006. We got lucky and got in at the last minute by meeting his manager there were maybe 200 people inside, best show ever (that I have ever been to). I have some pictures of jimmy coming out of the hamton inn getting ready to shake my hand and some pics of him on stage from about 10 feet away. I actually got to meet him he signed my shirt and spoke with us briefly before going inside.
Margaritaville will be packed all of broadway at the beach will be, however they do have a good bar out on the back deck and the outside bar is also a good place to wait. Good Luck

the sand bar at Margaritaville, Myrtle Beach is a cool place to hang out, and if you don't mind sitting at the bar to eat, you can eat there too. The inside restaurant always has a wait, and the gift shop is like Macy's the day before Christmas. The wait is worth it I think, I just wanted to warn you!
There is also a Cheeseburger in Paradise in Myrtle Beach, and the food there is very good...hint...try the chocolate nachos for dessert!!!! but its not the same atmosphere as Margaritaville,in my opinion, not by a longshot!

by which particular harbor?
He made an "unannounced" appearance there in 2005, I think July. I missed it by hours I read in the paper the next day....I was devastated to say the least. I was told by the employees that they don't know when he's coming to the locations due to the fact that loose lips draw unmanagable (and probably overly intoxicated) large crowds of parrotheads! I think everytime we visit that place in MB there is a 3-4 hour wait. We own a condo there and even when we visit in the winter there seems to be a wait there....hmmm...pretty popular place I'd say!

Went for lunch on Saturday 3 or 4 weeks back, only had a 20 minute wait. Was disappointed when we got inside and found out that instead of showing the videos they are now playing RM until 5 or 6 PM. Had to listen to JD while eating, not overly enjoyable. However, the blender still runs every 90 minutes, so my girlfriend's daughter got to see that for the first time, which she thought was pretty neat. Also picked up a LandShark Lager t-shirt from the store. Need to drop back in for some new beer holders. Always some reason to return
