Alvarez schedules D1-AA or weak D1 schools to fill the holes in the schedule.... we'll see how the Big Ten season goes.CaptainP wrote:Wow....if the Badgers don't stop winning games, they'll be in danger of falling out of the rankings completely!!!!
They were ranked #5, then won a game. Dropped to #7.
Now they won another game. Dropped to #9.
I guess style points count...

although I am sure a lot of teams have a BIG game facing them this week as we are well into the season and about half way there for most.
The Dawgs have a huge one in their face and even two bigger on the horizon.
I fully expect us to take two out of the three of them but if we lose this weekend we don't have much chance on the next two after that.
Right now Florida looks almost unbeatable BUT no team is unbeatable.

I'm guessing Florida and LSU are both undefeated when they meet in a couple weeks. That LSU team looks good enough to play on Sunday!12vmanRick wrote:although I am sure a lot of teams have a BIG game facing them this week as we are well into the season and about half way there for most.

Kat reminded me that I haven't posted my review of the USC/NU game yet (sorry, I was out of town for work most of this last week and haven't had a chance to post lately).
Anyway, I was really enjoying the game through the first quarter and a half.
After that, the wheels kind of came off thanks to some really questionable defensive coaching and more missed tackles than I could count. I joked later that the Las Vegas PD had more luck catching USC running backs than did the Blackshirts.

The frustrating part was that Sam Keller really played a lot better than I had expected and, if the defense could have stopped anyone, we could have been in the game a lot longer than we were. Not saying we would have won, but we definitely could have made the game a lot more interesting. But I was glad to see the team keep fighting and scrapping right up to the end.
USC runs like a well-oiled machine. They're methodical and virtually flawless in their preparation and execution. They just don't make mistakes and they're not going to beat themselves. Someone may beat them this year, but it'll take pretty close to a perfect game to do it.
Anyway, good luck to them the rest of the way. Nebraska has what should be winnable games the next two weeks (Ball St. and Iowa St.) before we really get to the meat of our schedule in October.
Good luck to everyone's non-Ball State teams today.

The way our defense played today, I should be grateful to even be in the game.Brown Eyed Girl wrote:Thank God for missed field goals, right Wes? It's still a win....but not a pretty one.
Thank goodness for Sam Keller. Talk about cool under pressure. This is twice now already he's brought us back from behind to win in the last few minutes.
