Not a "traditional powerhouse", but Michigan State was pretty good last year, and they beat them in a bowl game.

SHOOT!!!! I MISSED ONE!!!

USC.

Two loss team from a Powerhouse Conference. They lost both of their games while their Starting QB was injured. They are playing as well as anyone since he came back.

I think what you're alluding to P, is that there has to be a play-off system. I agree.

16 teams, 4 weeks. Conference Champs from the ACC, Big East, SEC, Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 10 get automatic bids with the other 10 being at large.
The top seed gets home field during the first 2 rounds.
Want to preserve the sanctity of the BCS bowls? They would be the semifinals, final, and consolation game and rotate on a yearly basis.
Have a bye week between the quarterfinals and semis so you can at least say you care about academics with a straight face and students can stay on campus and take finals and such.
8 teams is enough.

Conference Champs from the ACC, Big 10, SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, Big East get automatic bids. The conferences can decide if they need a Conf. Championship Game to decide that. One of the Other teams will be the highest rated team from the "Mid-Majors". You now have 7 teams....ALL of whom earned their Conference Championship. Why should a team be allowed to win the NATIONAL title if they can't even win their own Conference?

That being said, the 8th team is still a wild-card. It can be another Mid-Major, if one is deserving. It can be an independent, such as Notre Dame. OR...the second place team from a major conference. That is my concession to the "fluke loss" late in the season.

The 4 BCS bowls can be the 1st round....
NO SEEDING IN THE 1ST ROUND!!!

*Rose Bowl can have Big 10 Vs. Pac 10.
*Orange Bowl can have Big 12 vs. (pick one of the remaining)
*Sugar Bowl can have SEC vs. (pick one of the remaining)
*Fiesta Bowl can have MID-MAJOR vs. (pick one of the remaining)

These matchups help keep the traditional tie-ins (Fiesta Bowl was created for the sake of helping the old WAC get its Champion into a Bowl, so that seems like a logical spot for the Mid-Major.

The SECOND ROUND can be seeded...1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3.

I love the term "mid-majors". It signifies that there are "Small-Majors". Kinda like going to McDonalds, where there is no such thing as a "small" soda.

MSU hasn't been to a bowl game since 2003! :o
Hawaii actually beat Arizona State in the Hawaii Bowl. ASU ended up with a 7-6 overall record (4-5 in the Pac-10) prompting the firing of coach Dirk Koetter.

And Boise State, last year's undefeated midmajor, beat Oklahoma, so anything's possible

Ahhh...my mistake.

But for those who claim that they never play anyone from a big conference...in the last 2 years they have played ALABAMA, PURDUE, OREGON STATE, WASHINGTON STATE and ARIZONA STATE. They are 3-2 in those games, with the losses being by a combined 11 points. They can compete with the big boys, folks. Maybe not win, but they'll make it interesting with their ability to score.

Hawaii did beat MSU a couple of years ago, but it was in the final game of the regular season. State had a huge lead, but Timmy Chang threw for 400+ yards to lead the comeback.

I was thinking of the game that Colt Brennan threw for 500 yards after halftime. Must've been that ASU game, not MSU.

I stayed up 3 or 4 times this year just to see Hawaii play. That team is just fun to watch, hope they surprise Georgia.

And also in that game was some of the worst examples of homerism in the history of officiating! (And I'm anti MSU)!

I watched a good chunk of the Hawaii/Boise St. game a few weeks ago and there was a number of West Virginia/Pitt calls in that game also.....if ya know what I mean!!!!!

Chip.......picked up your Motor City Bowl Tix Yet???
A little disapointed it's a rematch game, although considering it's Purdue it should be entertaining.

Better than a Clemson or Kansas rematch anyway!!

They entered the last weekend ranked 4th. They didn't play. TWO TEAMS ranked ahead of them LOST.

HOW THE HELL DO THEY END UP RANKED FIFTH?!?!?!?!?!?!?

That right there should be enough to prove there is corruption in the system.

Georgia did everything they needed to do. And got butt-f****d.
They should be in the big game.
now that I agree with

It was a simple case of "adjustments" in the voting. They saw what was about to happen, so they voted Georgia down, to make sure that they finished 3rd. They overcompensated, Georgia drops to 5th.

They truly are, and Colt Brennan is NOT a "system QB". June Jones is right. The kid has true talent. He is not Timmy Chang. Brennan will be a star in the NFL.
