If we have to, we'll have a reserve shipment sent up from Tahiti.

I went there in December of 1978 with the intention of staying two weeks.
Those two weeks turned into 11 years.

Ah, the concert finally feels close at hand!

My buddy flies in from Big Island at 10:30 on Thursday. We should arrive at Mai Tai Bar around 11:30. After that, perhaps a drink at Duke's since that's the halfway point to the Elk's Club. :)

He's never tried kava so we'll sneak away from the Elk's party for a kava run mid-afternoon. Those of you wanting to try it, you're welcome to share the cab with us. It's about 3 minutes from the party if we don't hit the light and they have amazing acai bowls and fish wraps.

I might be getting one more set of tickets from Budweiser so my front row tickets in the reserved section might be up for grabs. :)

Hula time has arrived!!!!

Just over 24 hours before I "get high."

And I just have to say, that, while I ALWAYS try being optomistic, something tells me something REALLY REALLY nice is going to happen to me on this trip.
It's like a 6th, 7th, and 8th sense. I can feel it. I don't know why, but I do know something very memorable is in store for me in the week ahead.

And I'm excited. :D

Happy hour - Tuesday 10/2 @ 4:30ish-???

The Mai Tai Bar @ the Royal Hawaiin Hotel
http://www.royal-hawaiian.com/de_maitai.htm

Wednesday 10/3
Some people are going on a sunset cruise with 3-4 Time Charters out of the Ko Olina Marina on the Leeward side. The boat leaves the dock at 4:30 and we need to be there at 4PM. Oahufish (Lee) is the captain and he's offering us a parrothead rate of $20 per person for a 2-3 hour cruise.

Lee is also offering $100 off fishing trips if you mention Buffettnews. The NorthcoastParrothead's are taking a 6hr trip and there may be 3 more spots for that. Send a PM to NorthcoastParrothead if you're interested in joining them.

Thursday 10/4
Cowboyjunkie put us on the VIP calendar for the Mai Tai Bar at 11AM the day of the show, with bar hopping to follow.
Stops will include Duke's and Diamond Head Cove Health Bar for Kava smoothies.

The Pauhana Parrothead Club is hosting a 5 O'Clock On The Beach pre-concert party from 1:30 to 6:30 PM the day of the concert. They have rented the Waikiki Elks Lodge on the beach across the park from the Shell. Tickets are available in the Merchandise Section of the website. The tickets are $8 each with the price covering the room rental, entertainer and donation to the Hawaii Food Bank charity. Scott Bryan will provide the musical entertainment.

Everything at the Elks is Cash only - no credit cards! There is an ATM available in the Lobby, but your best bet is to plan ahead and bring cash.

Beer and Mai Tai's are only $2, with a full bar available if you want to buy other drinks.

There is also a Taco Bar with Beef, Chicken and all the fixings. The cost is $12.50 per person. Please purchase wristbands in advance here; http://pauhanaparrotheads.org/Merchandise.htm

No parking will be available at the Elks club, and vehicles parked there will be towed at the owners' expense. There is metered parking across the street and around Kapiolani Park, at 0.25/hr and free after 6:00pm. Parking at the Shell is also free and should be readily available in the early afternoon. Cowboyjunkie's plan to park at the mall and take a cab over may also be a good option

There is a flyer and more pictures of the Elks Lodge in the Merchandise Section of the website.

Friday 10/5
I sent the final list and made the true-up payment to Paradise Cove. The luau group is now full.

Some of us are going to the Paradise Cove Luau on Friday 10/5. I structured the contract so that each person can pay either $58.50 or $66.50, depending on whether they want transportation from Waikiki.

In addition, Paradise Cove also requests 10% gratuity. I am leaving that to the discretion of everyone the night of the luau. I would suggest a tip of $10 per person, which is over 10 percent of the regular price.

Image

Tickets will be distributed on a Will-Call basis by Paradise Cove the day of the luau. Give them your name when you get on the bus and tell them you're with the Buffett News group, and they'll give you your tickets. If you're driving to the luau, go to the box office window when you get there and they'll have the tickets for you.

The pricing is for the Hawaiian Luau Buffet Package
You can also see the full schedule of events on the Paradise Cove website;

Here is the pick-up schedule for those paying for transportation.

3:45 PM
Ilikai Hotel (Ala Moana Blvd.)
Sheraton Waikiki (Bus Depot)
Hyatt Regency (Koa Ave.)
Kahala Mandarin (Front Ent.)

4:00 PM
Hilton Hawaiian Village (Tapa Towers)
Ohana West (Walina St.)
Resort Quest Waikiki Beach Hotel (Paoakalani Ave.)

4:15 PM
Ala Moana Hotel (Front Ent.)
Waikiki Gateway (Olohana St.)

Saturday 10/6
Some of us are going on a sailboat sunset cruise with Nelson at Leeward Boat Rentals out of the Ko Olina Marina. The sailboat leaves the dock at 3:30 and we need to be there by 3PM. There is no charge for this cruise but I'm asking that everyone bring a gift for the captain. Lee also rents 21ft center consoles that hold up to 6 people. He's offering a rate of $80 per hour with a 2 hour minimum if you mention Buffettnews.
