Battista's is great unless your Gramma is Italian (or Gramma-in-law) and can cook. It's on par with Buca de Beppo. It is absolutely heavenly if you're drunk.

We loooooved Commander's Palace, but I don't know whether the new location at the Venetian has opened yet.

I had one of my best meals ever at Bobby Flay's Mesa...barely 3 weeks after it opened. Not to mention there was no way in hell we were charged for everything we had, either our waiter comped us some stuff since he spent much of the time chatting with us after finding out we were from the same area, or some things were left off the bill unintentionally. Either way we made sure he got a VERY generous tip. :)

If you dont mind spending some money:
1) Delmonico's in the Venetian is awesome. Emeril owns it. great gumbo, steaks and desserts.
2) Mesa grill in Ceasers Palace. Bobby Flay's place. Very good food, has some nice different choices.
3) Kokomo's in the Mirage is good fish place, VERY pricey. Avoid Onda restaurant at Mirage, it is terrible.
4) Wofgang Puck's place at Mandalay is very good.
5) Giardelli's Ice Cream by Harrahs
6) Stage Deli in Caesers forum shops.
Sorry to put so much, but I like Vegas. :D

Love Battista's! When my dad lived in Vegas we went there alot!

and one of the best steaks i have ever had in my life was at Delmonico's in the Venetian! it was topped with fried calamari!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

There was no way I was getting out of bed last night. But Vegas "eats" was on the Food Channel 11-12a EST

Look it up to see when it runs again

Commander's Palace in the Desert Passage at the Alladin.
(the original is in New Orleans). They have an $18.80 lunch special (the original one started in 1880) and 25 cent martinis. Excellent Creole/seafood. I had turtle soup. pecan crusted catfish & a bread pudding souffle (and 3 martinis) then a long nap.

Battista's is a great choice....I would/will go there again

And as for being Italian.. not all Italian women are great cooks! Hey don't ALL restaurants need to mass produce - how else do you think the drunks get fed?

Marrakesh at about 3900 South Paradise is a great place for Middle Eastern dining and the dancing isn't too bad either! [smilie=blush.gif]

The reason I enjoy visiting Las Vegas is that there are so many great options both on and off the Strip. One can find something new and wonderful each time one visits.

Lots of good suggestions here.

That's why I qualified it with "and can cook"- Tom's gramma- wow- his mom, not so much.

But Commander's Palace is closed- I just found this:

I'm very disappointed, I thought it was a done deal for them to move to the Venetian!

i've been to Battista's twice. Great fun decor, average food, average box wine. I wouldn't recommend it for the food or wine, but it's a place that with a fun group can be really fun. Much better Italian food at the Bootlegger Bistro or the little place downtown on 4th street.

Will you have a car? That can be a big factor. Assuming yes:
High end: The Tillerman, Andre's.
Mid: Bootlegger, the restaurant in the Silverton.
Low/mid: Lotus of Siam thai place on Sahara, Salvadoran place a couple blocks further down, Ellis Island for NY style pizza and homebrew.

Not the typical list of the Strip places, but just a few options for the adventurous...

I always liked the Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian - it's like an up-scale cheesecake factory, and the portions are just as large. I think they come from the same parent company.

Brunch as BELLIAGO is the best... I used to love Caesar's Sunday Brunh, Belliago puts theres to shame. 23-27 per person and you will NOT eat the rest of the day...

Paris at $50 is to have an awesome brunch, until I hit it big, it will always be Belliago!

Good Eats!

I agree to the German Restaurant across from Hard Rock - awesome
