Best bar in Cabo

Post by spartan1979 »

We're heading there in three weeks. Any recommendations for a good bar there?

Thanks.

Cabo Wabo....or is that too obvious? You don't have to be afraid of the house-tequila either. Unless you drink more than you should.

My mom just got back from Cabo last weekend and I can tell you a bar to avoid...or just be careful at. Mango Deck seemed like a pretty cool party bar. She got inside and ordered a margarita, drank it and ordered a second. She only drank half of it and doesn't remember anything until 11am the next morning. She was drugged and it seemed to be from their waiter.

My mom is a very pretty and very flirty lady and was there with her boyfriend. She flirted with the waiter a lot and even went up onstage. Apparently, she did things she would never do onstage once the drugs set in. Her boyfriend didn't realize what was going on because the waiter brought him drinks with shots of tequila on the side "on the house". It wasn't until a local woman told him that there was something very wrong with my mom that he got her out of there. The next day, she could barely pick up her arms and felt that feeling of being drugged. She was pretty freaked out about it.

Just make sure that you order your own drinks and watch the bartender pour them.

Now, a bar that I've heard is a lot of fun from a lot of people is Tabasco's. Good food and drinks. Also try Latitude 22.

Good luck and have fun!

Oh....one last thing, take the shuttle from the airport into town. Cabs will end up costing you $80 one way!
I am sooooo happy to say that I WILL BE AT MOTM 2010!!!! 5 years in a row!!!!

Zippers on Costa Azul. The owner is a good friend of mine.
You can't miss him, his name is Tony and is muy gordo but always has a bear hug for you especially if you greet him with a loud "Saly y Vale!" Tell him that Vince from La Jolla sent you and you may or may not get a free 'rita! :pirate:

Agree on Margaritavilla - the food was good too and great view of the harbor. My favorite bar was the one at our AI hotel ! but I would also recomend one of the cruises. You may want to skip the food (we did just because we wanted to eat earlier, and who knows where it is prepared) but the free drinks and the views are great.

Also, spend a day in the "old town", it's very relaxing, but then party at the other end of the corridor. Where are you staying? We were at Dreams Los Cabos for our honeymoon.

There are bars on every corner and places you wouldn't think there was a bar. I found such a bar on Vincente Guerrero street (cross street is Zapata). It is in a souvineer shop area, accoss the street from some of the best tacos at Gordo Lele's. The bar is called the "Patio Bar" and they have 3 for 1 all day, beers are $5 and margaritas are $8 so that is 3 beers for $5 and so on. Chico the bartender makes the margaritas with at least three different tequilas sometimes more and they are very good. As I say this bar is located in a souvineer/trinket area but it is a great place to drink. The other bars mentioned are good but more expensive and weak drinks. You should just go exploring and you may find your own Patio Bar.

Margaritavilla has huge Margarita's (I was just there 4/07)

I was just in Cabo over the Easter 07 holiday. Margaritavilla has excellent margaritas. Cabo Wabo has a great house band, and my wife and sister in law got crazy on the catwalks. If you like sushi, my buddy Angel owns the resturant Nicksan, and the food is excellent.

Seems kind of pricey for Mexico. I remember paying a buck for beer and a couple of bucks for margarita's with Cuervo Gold as the house brand the last time I was in Mexico. But I've never been to Cabo, Mazatlan is the only Mexican Riviera town I've been too but it was cheaper.

Never been there, but found this story intriguing.

http://www.bajamagic.com/tequila.html

The Truth About Tequila
John Bragg—The Tequila Man

John Bragg has the largest known tequila collection in the world. At last count (spring, 2002) he had over 500 different types of tequila, pulque and mezcal. Since 1990, he and his wife Mary and have owned and managed Pancho’s Restaurant and Tequila Bar in Cabo San Lucas.

http://www.panchos.com/

...John has a parting thought he’d like to leave with you. “If you come to Pancho’s in Cabo with a bottle of unopened tequila, and it’s one I don’t have in my collection, I’ll buy the bottle from you and your dinner will be on the house—even if I’m not there!”
